Each year 3–6 million people develop life-threatening severe dengue (SD). Clinical warning signs for SD manifest late in the disease course and are nonspecific, leading to missed cases and excess hospital burden. Better SD prognostics are urgently needed.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that typically occurs in tropical and subtropical countries. The clinical manifestations of dengue infection range from an asymptomatic subclinical course to severe dengue shock syndrome. Besides, dengue can affect any organ in the body and can present with atypical manifestations.

Dengue is an infectious disease that causes a worldwide health and economic burden despite the efforts to eradicate the disease. From 2013 to 2015, dengue epidemic significantly increased from 33,626 to 50,205 cases in Vietnam. This study aims to determine the genotype variations of dengue virus (DENV) circulating in Southern Vietnam during 2014-2015.

Mosquitoes are vectors of serious human diseases, i.e., dengue fever, malaria, and yellow fever. The number of dengue fever cases has seen 30 times increase in the previous 50 years. The research and development of mosquito repellents as personal care products is an approach for preventing diseases spread by mosquitoes, besides others for killing larvae.

Dengue fever is one of the most common tropical diseases, with high prevalence in many tropical countries including Sri Lanka. Dengue infection can present from subclinical infection to dengue shock syndrome. Further, the disease also shows a variety of atypical presentations and has been reported to mimic a number of causes of acute abdomen.

NS1 antigen, known as Non Structural antigen is an important antigenic component of Dengue Virus. Dengue virus is transmitted by bite of Aedes aegyptii mosquito. Hemorrhagic manifestations and shock syndrome are most dreaded complications of Dengue IgM antibody is produced in Acute phase and IgG in later phases of Dengue and may remain for very long periods.

Dengue virus serotyping is crucial for clinical management and epidemiology of the disease. As serotype shifts and secondary infection with a heterologous DENV serotype are frequently associated with disease severity, there is a need for sustained monitoring of the circulating serotypes and enhanced surveillance operations to prevent large scale severe dengue outbreaks.

The present study was carried out to find out data on Dengue specific serological markers like NS1 antigen, IgM antibody and epidemiological scenario of Dengue cases in Kutch region during the year 2014. Total 765 blood samples from across the Kutch region were tested by ELISA for NS1 antigen and/or IgM antibody as per the protocols and personal, demographic and clinical details of each patient was recorded.

Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a common presentation of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) precipitated by various bacterial and viral infections. Dengue infection is no exception for this and can be a precipitating factor for DKA. The presentation of DKA with dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) has been reported in adults. However, it is very rarely observed in children.

Vector borne diseases have gained importance in recent decade due to the increasing frequency of sporadic episodes occurring in both endemic and non-endemic areas. The similar clinical presentation and the acute febrile nature results in misdiagnosis often and increases the risk of transmission and morbidity in the vulnerable populations. A study was undertaken to check the prevalence of Chikungunya virus among the febrile patients presenting with body ache or mayalgia between June 2014 and July 2015.

Dengue is a vector borne viral infection that belongs to family Flaviviridae. It is a single stranded RNA virus and endagers 2.5 billion people worldwide. WHO has estimated about 50 million cases of dengue infection every year worldwide. Apoptotic hepatocytes are found to be colocalised with dengue virus infected hepatocytes, suggesting that hepatocytes are the major site of dengue virus replication in the liver. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to analyse the role of liver enzymes in Dengue viral infection.

Dengue Fever is a mosquito-borne illness commonly present throughout the tropics. Dengue virus belongs to flaviviridae family and circulates with 4 different serotypes circulating in environment. In India four different serotypes of the virus are seen throughout country. The disease has a wide spectrum from an asymptomatic stage to DHF and DSS. Annually 100 million cases of dengue and a half million cases of DHF occurs worldwide with a case fatality of 0.5% to 3.5%. The combined laboratory interventions with the clinical spectrum can reduce the mortality in disease.

The objective of the present study is 1. To study the changing laboratory profiles in dengue viral infections. 2. To correlate these laboratory tests during the evolution of dengue fever and in assessing severity of disease. 3. To study the association of these profiles in remission of the disease. 4. And also to study factors involved in predicting prognosis.
