Dependency of forest trees

  • Air pollution is one of the most concerns problems currently. The air quality of urban areas depends directly and indirectly on urban vegetation because trees are identified to have ability to remove air pollutants. In this study, I-tree Eco model was used to quantify the removal ability of air pollutants from trees at selected universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

  • Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have been widely used to discover the genetic basis of complex phenotypes. However, standard single-SNP GWASs suffer from lack of power. In particular, they do not directly account for linkage disequilibrium, that is the dependences between SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms).

  • The Tropical Thorn Forest at foot hills of Niligris located in Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam under Jackanari Reserve forest, Tamil Nadu, India was scouted and surveyed for the presence and prevalence of Ectomycorrhizal Fungal association. About Twelve different groups of fruiting bodies of ECM fungi were identified and their prevalence index ranged between 40-80% indicating wide diversity and dependency of forest trees on ECM fungi.

  • The mahua tree is a nature reward to tribal's communities in India. The country has land of diverse group of tribes they still depend on the forest and its products for survival and subsistence of life. Among these forest products one of Madhuca indica which produce wide variety of products. The products obtained from tree are consumed by these communities itself or sale in local and regional market. Tree having great spiritual, cultural, medicinal, ornamental and multiple utility.

  • Various kinds of scored dependency graphs are proposed as packed shared data structures in combination with optimum dependency tree search algorithms. This paper classifies the scored dependency graphs and discusses the specific features of the “Dependency Forest” (DF) which is the packed shared data structure adopted in the “Preference Dependency Grammar” (PDG), and proposes the “Graph Branch Algorithm” for computing the optimum dependency tree from a DF. This paper also reports the experiment showing the computational amount and behavior of the graph branch algorithm. ...

  • In the present paper, we propose the effective usage of function words to generate generalized translation rules for forest-based translation. Given aligned forest-string pairs, we extract composed tree-to-string translation rules that account for multiple interpretations of both aligned and unaligned target function words. In order to constrain the exhaustive attachments of function words, we limit to bind them to the nearby syntactic chunks yielded by a target dependency parser.

  • The past several years have witnessed rapid advances in syntax-based machine translation, which exploits natural language syntax to guide translation. Depending on the type of input, most of these efforts can be divided into two broad categories: (a) string-based systems whose input is a string, which is simultaneously parsed and translated by a synchronous grammar (Wu, 1997; Chiang, 2005; Galley et al., 2006), and (b) tree-based systems whose input is already a parse tree to be directly converted into a target tree or string (Lin, 2004; Ding and Palmer, 2005; Quirk et al.

  • Tree-to-string systems (and their forestbased extensions) have gained steady popularity thanks to their simplicity and efficiency, but there is a major limitation: they are unable to guarantee the grammaticality of the output, which is explicitly modeled in string-to-tree systems via targetside syntax. We thus propose to combine the advantages of both, and present a novel constituency-to-dependency translation model, which uses constituency forests on the source side to direct the translation, and dependency trees on the target side (as a language model) to ensure grammaticality. ...

  • Due to demands placed on natural resources globally and subsequent deterioration of the environment, there is a need to source and develop appropriate technology to satisfy this requirement. For decades mankind has largely depended on natural resources such as fossil fuels to meet the ever increasing energy demands. Realizing the finite nature of these resources, emphasis is now shifting to investigating alternate energy source governed by environmentally friendly principles.

  • The Government of Vietnam (GoV) has embarked on a massive tree plantation program. By 2010 it plans to establish an additional 5 million hectares of plantations on cleared land, over and above the current plantation estate of one million hectares, plus the equivalent of more than 50,000 hectares of community forests in scattered plantings. The GoV is committed to improving the quantity and quality of tree seed produced from its own seed orchards, which is a more sustainable strategy than depending on imported seed.
