Determine the prevalence of brucellosis

A study was conducted to determine the prevalence of Brucellosis in humans in and around border areas of Jammu, J&K, India using different serological tests viz., RBPT, STAT and I-ELISA. A total of 75 sera samples from humans were tested by RBPT, STAT and I-ELISA. In humans, overall prevalence of 1.33% was recorded. Age-wise 36-50 yr persons while sex-wise males had higher prevalence.

The present study was undertaken to determine the prevalence of brucellosis in small and large ruminants in state of Chhattisgarh, India. A total of 1050 sera samples from cattle (n=750), buffaloes (n=95), goats (n= 170) and sheep (n=35) were collected and tested for the presence of antibrucella antibodies by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (IELISA) kits.

Brucellosis is a zoonotic bacterial disease of ruminants and also reported from camel. Camels are one of the most important sources of livelihood for the nomadic population of Gujarat. There are limited published information regarding the sero-epidemiology of camel brucellosis in Gujarat. The present study was carried out to determine the seroprevalence and risk factors associated with caprine brucellosis in Punjab, India. A total of 277 serum samples collected randomly from goats were tested by RBPT, MAT, STAT and i-ELISA. Out of 277 sera samples, 31 (11.19%), 44(15.88%), 49(17.68) and 52 (18.77%) samples were positive by RBPT, MAT, STAT and i-ELISA. Overall prevalence was 18.7%.
