QRCV approach to enhancing critical thinking skills in ESP learning

The findings indicate that the experimental group outperformed the control group in the course achievement, especially in the dimension of Considering from multiple-perspectives. Implications for applying QRCV to other ESP courses in general are suggested.

Situation analysis and need analysis in developing ESP courses for three faculties at Hanoi national University of education (HNUE)

This article addresses ESP and developing ESP syllabi and teaching materials by conducting situation and needs analysis. This is followed by a description of the methodology including both interviews with teachers and questionnaires with students at the three faculties in analyzing the needs. Subsequently, the findings from these semi-controlled interviews and questionnaires are presented and discussed. The paper finishes with some practical suggestions for the procedure in developing ESP syllabi and teaching materials.

Should an ESP course be specific or general a literature review of the specificity debate

Subject content is an important part of ESP courses. However, it is controversial how much subject content should be integrated into course content. This paper reviews the debate over specificity of ESP courses in three ESP development periods since 1960s. It will provide ESP practitioners, course writers and managers a theoretical overview to inform their teaching and researching practices.
