The accuracy of assessing the capabilities of the process and product in chemical practice activities requires appropriate measurement procedures to be followed. This study aims to identify the components or criteria used by teachers to assess student performance in practicum activities and analyze the quality of the rubrics developed.

Every child has the capacity to succeed in school and in life. Yet far too many children, especially those from poor and minority families, are placed at risk by school practices that are based on a sorting paradigm in which some students receive high-expectations instruction while the rest are relegated to lower quality education and lower quality futures. The sorting perspective must be replaced by a “talent development” model that asserts that all children are capable of succeeding in a rich and demanding curriculum with appropriate assistance and support.

Twelve studies addressed the contextual influences which hinder or enable the develop- ment of reflection and reflective capability. Several studies explored the effect of context on reflection and reflective thinking. Sobral (2000) found evidence for improved quality of learning as students strive for control of their learning. He suggests that a greater effort at reflection is associated with a more positive learning experience, and that reflection in learning is related to readiness for self- regulated learning, and to the meaningfulness of the experience.
