Drought is an abiotic stress factor that negatively affects plant development and causes economic losses in plant production, and its effect is getting significant every day. Spinach contains a high amount of water and drought stress affects its development as well as causing changes in its biochemical contents. In this study, it is aimed to determine the changes in the morphological, physiological, and biochemical contents of spinach grown under deficit irrigation conditions in different stages of development.

Water availability is a very important factor for the growth and development of plants, which limits the plant production capacity. Rootstocks are widely utilized to improve plants tolerance to various biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, physiological and biochemical responses of fifteen almond rootstock candidates to drought stress were investigated under in vitro conditions. The shoot tips from fifteen almond rootstock candidates were cultured in MS medium containing 1.0 mg/L BAP, 0.01 mg/L IBA, 30 g/L sucrose and 7 g/L agar.

The influence of soil moisture on the infection, hyphal development and uptake of P of a VA mycorrhizal fungus Glomus fasciculatum in Quinoa was studied at four different moisture levels (-0.2; -0.6; -1.2 and -2.4 MPa). Maximum increase in dry weight was observed at -0.2 MPa level. There was a proportionate increase in total P content in shoot and root of a plant at decreased moisture levels.

Genetic analysis of biparental progenies resulted that, the traits viz,. days to 50% RWC and plant height were governed by additive gene action for improvement of these traits while, days to flowering, productive tillers per plant, 1000- grain weight, and grain yield can be improved by heterosis breeding. Main objective of the study was to evaluate rice genotypes for yield and yield related traits for heterosis to develop new breeding lines that can perform better in water stress conditions.

To investigate the water-deficit tolerance, 3 cotton genotypes (Bunny Bt, Pratima and Anjali.) were grown under normal irrigation and water-deficit conditions. Moisture is a key factor affecting growth and yield of Cotton in which stress is the most important factor limiting crop productivity due to adverse effect on fruit production, square/boll shedding and lint yield as well as fiber quality properties of Cotton. If water supply is limited during boll development it could result in significantly lower yields. In this study stress imposed with four watering treatments viz.

Plant growth and development are adversely affected by salinity- a major environmental stress that limits agricultural production. Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is sensitive to salinity that affects its yield and there is need to identify the tolerant genotypes. In order to evaluate the effect of soil salinity, a pot experiment with two chickpea genotypes was carried out under screen house conditions.

The experiment was deigned to find out the best alternative way to grow healthy tomato seedling under water stress condition. Three different protected and unprotected conditions (Polyhouse, Low tunnel and open field condition) were selected for sowing of seedling. Open field condition was taken up as a control. Production of healthy and vigorous tomato seedling is most important factor in successful commercial production and yield of quality tomato fruits.

Sugarcane is one of the major commercial crops in India and its productivity is severely hampered by drought and red rot. It is essential to enhance the abiotic and biotic stress tolerance by exploiting novel and diverse source of germplasm for sugarcane improvement and sustain productivity. Of late considerable attention has been given to utilize Erianthus spp a wild relative of sugarcane. In this study, Erianthus procerus introgressed intergeneric hybrid and backcross hybrids were evaluated for water deficit stress and red rot resistance.

Coconut has a prolonged reproductive phase of 44 months from the initiation of the inflorescence primordium to full maturity of the nuts. Weather affects all stages of the long development cycle and thus there is likely to be extended predictability based on climate variability. An attempt is being made to relate the coconut sample survey data of Coconut Development Board with climate data of Chanrayapatna taluk of Hassan district. Mean nut yield per palm, per year in the Chanrayapatna taluk was 83.3. Among the villages, Baldare recorded significantly lower nut yield (78.
