Dielectric relaxation

A new parallel-plate capacitor fixture has been designed and successfully used to measure dielectric loss of polyelectrolyte solutions with volumes as low as droplets of 13e26 mL. It is particularly useful when studying polypeptides that are either high-cost or can be synthesized only in limited quantities.

The dielectric characteristics of TiO2 (capacitive behavior) in combination with the tunnel diode characteristics of the heterostructure (presenting a negative differential resistance, when activated at a threshold voltage) are shown to give rise to the relaxation oscillations.

The results indicated the reduction of relaxation frequency with increasing the silica content due to the intensified interaction between nanoparticles and tryglycine sulfate inclusion. The nature of this interaction was thoroughly discussed in this study.

he effect of the ZnO addition in pure perovskite PZT−PMnN−PSbN ceramics sintered from 950 to 1200oC has been investigated. The phase structure of ceramics changes from rhombohedral to tetragonal and the temperature decreases with the increase of the ZnO content. The limitation of Zn2+ concentration for the solubility in PZT–PMnN–PSbN systems is about 0.25% wt., at which the ceramic shows some good physical properties such as the density of 8.20 g/cm3 , some dielectric constants including εr = 1,555 and εmax = 32,900.

X-ray diffraction analysis and impedance spectroscopy measurements were employed to study the influence of the structural characteristics on the electrical properties. The formation of the orthorhombic phase for all samples with a decrease in the unit cell volume was due to insertion of Mg2þ into Ti4þ sites.

PVA/CuI polymer composite samples have been prepared and subjected to characterizations using FT-IR spectroscopy, DSC analysis, ac spectroscopy and dc conduction. The FT-IR spectral analysis shows remarkable variation of the absorption peak positions whereas DSC illustrates a little decrease of both glass transition temperature, Tg, and crystallization fraction, v, with increasing CuI concentration. An increase of dc conductivity for PVA/CuI nano composite by increasing CuI concentration is recoded up to 15 wt%, besides it obeys Arhenuis plot with an activation energy in the range 0.54–1.
