Nutritional impact symptoms (NISs) are proposed to be a key indicator of decreased dietary intake in patients with solid cancer. Cancer patients frequently experience NIS from the disease itself and from disease treatment side effects that impact oral and gastrointestinal health. This study also sought to identify the types of treatment and other factors related to dietary intake for solid cancer patients.

Dietary fiber intake, the gut microbiome, and chronic systemic inflammation in a cohort of adult men
A higher intake of dietary fiber is associated with a decreased risk of chronic inflammatory diseases such as cardiovascular disease and inflammatory bowel disease. This may function in part due to abrogation of chronic systemic inflammation induced by factors such as dysbiotic gut communities.

In this study, we dissect the subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) methylome signature relevant to metabolic health by focusing on VF as the major risk factor of metabolic disease. We integrate results with genetic, blood methylation, SAT gene expression, blood metabo‑ lomic, dietary intake and metabolic phenotype data to assess and quantify genetic and environmental drivers of the identified signals, as well as their potential functional roles.

Telomeres are DNA-protein complexes that cap chromosomal ends to promote chromosomal stability. Telomere length has been associated with diet and nutrition and inversely associated with mortality, life stress, and diseases. The objective of the current study was to explore the effect of long-term intake of multiple dietary supplements on telomere length in adults compared with age-matched controls.

Micronutrient deficiency is a public health problem even though vegetable consumption could avert it. Vitamin C [Ascorbic acid (AA) and dehydroascorbate (DHAA)], β-carotene, lutein and vitamin B9 contents in seven traditional green leafy vegetables (raw and cooked) from Ghana were determined, to identify good sources and their potential contribution to Dietary Recommended Intakes.

Nutrition is an essential component of oral health. Dietary intake of high-cariogenic foods rich in sugar could impair oral health. However, adequate nutritional knowledge determines dietary behaviour and consequently overall oral health practices. The study assessed the nutritional knowledge, dietary habits, and oral health practices of undergraduate students attending Lead City University Ibadan.

In the presented research, we compared the in vitro protective effects of α-tocopherol and α-tocotrienol. In this context, we formed an in vitro neurodegeneration model with primary isolated neurons and measured α-tocopherol’s and α-tocotrienol’s protective effects. As a result, α-tocopherol and α-tocotrienol prevent the degeneration of neurons. Moreover, α-tocopherol and α-tocotrienol regulated the neuron’s calcium channels mechanism by decreasing the expression of the calcium channel alpha 1C subunit.
