  • High levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids in chicken spermatozoa make them susceptible to lipoperoxidation and reduce their fertility. This study was conducted to assess the effect of sesame seed suplementation in the diet on the semen quality of Ho cocks. Eighteen 13-14 month-old cocks were randomly divided into three groups and were assigned to one of the following treatments: 0% SS (control), 5% SS, or 7% sesame seeds per kg of diet for ten consecutive weeks after a two-week adaptation period. Semen characteristics were evaluated once a week.

  • The biological experiment was carried out with Three hundred commercial sexed, one day-old, broiler chicks that were randomly grouped into six treatments with five replicates for each treatment and containing ten chicks per replicate. The chicks were reared from day-old to thirty five days of age in deep litter system in a gable roofed, open sided poultry house. All the chicks were reared under standard management conditions throughout the experimental period.

  • A trial was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary salts of organic acids for a period of 42 days on the serum parameters of broiler chicks. 300 commercial broiler chicks were randomly distributed into five treatments having six replicates consisting of ten birds each. A maize-soybean based diet was used as the basal diet (Control group). The basal diet was supplemented with salts of organic acids (sodium butyrate, calcium propionate @ 0.5% and 1%).

  • The study was to assess the effect of feeding Japan hlo (Mikania micrantha Kunth.) in ‘meal form’ (JLM) as protein substitute on haemato-biochemical profiles of growing LWY pigs. Sixteen weaned LWY pigs were assigned four dietary treatments with JLM at 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% level as substitute of soyabean meal (SBM) at an amount on equivalent protein basis for a period of 75 days. For haemato-biochemical parameters, blood were collected at 0, 30th, 60th, 75th days of experiment and analysed utilising commercial analytical kits and following standard procedures.

  • An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of feeding graded levels of Yeast cell extracted nucleotide (YEN) at different age intervals on Gut (Intestinal) microbial load of commercial broilers. In a completely randomized design, 300 day-old straight run commercial broiler chicks were assigned to ten treatments with each treatments consisting of three replicates with ten chicks in each. Basal diet (control) T1 was prepared without supplementation of yeast extracted nucleotides for day 1 to 42 days of experimental period.

  • A study was conducted to the effect of garlic with two different levels on the growth performances and carcass characteristics of NandanamBroiler-2. A total of 84 day old NandanamBroiler-2 chicks were randomly allotted into three treatments with two replicates which contained 14 chicks in each replicate for 8 weeks experimental period. The dietary treatments were formulated as a control (T1), 0.25 % (T2), 0.50% (T3) garlic paste with basal diet. The data on production parameters like weekly body weight, feed consumption and mortality were recorded.
