  • The present investigation was conducted during November 2014 to April 2015 at the experimental research farm, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (Chhattisgarh). Evaluation of light trap using different coloured lights revealed that ordinary tungsten filament light was found to be most effective (41.54%) followed by yellow (21.83%), blue (13.73%) and green colour light (12.52%), whereas red colour light was least effective (10.36%) based on the number of insects caught in the light trap.

  • Biology and bionomics of Cheilomenes sexmaculatus on Lipaphis erysimi was investigated under laboratory conditions during 2013. Biology of C. sexmaculatus on Lipaphis erysimi revealed the presence of four instars, which lasted for of 7.16 ± 0.99 days. The eggs hatched within 1–3 days. The total life span of male and female were 16.44 ± 1.19 days and 22.04 ± 2.42 days, respectively. The mean pupal period lasted for 5.88 ± 0.73 days. The fecundity of the female was 323.52 ± 24.80 eggs / female.

  • Pea is one of the most important rabi pulse crops of India. Pea is being rich in protein are valuable for vegetable purpose. Fourteen isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.pisi from different districts of Manipur were studied for its cultural, morphological and pathogenic variability. The mycelia colour varied from white to light pink, purple and pale yellow colour. The radial growth of the isolates ranged from 5.4cm to 8.9cm at 8 days after inoculation at 26±10 0C in 90mm petriplates. Sporulation of all isolates showed moderate to profuse.

Sixteen isolates of Alternaria spp. were collected from different locations and characterized for cultural variations. Alternaria alternata f. sp. mali varied in their cultural behavior ranging from velvety to cottony, mostly appressed, with regular to irregular margins. Colour of colonies ranged between light to dark olivaceous. The nutritional studies were undertaken to know the best medium required for the growth and sporulation of the test pathogen.

  • Fungal pathogen F. oxysporum (Schlecht.) f. sp. phaseoli Kendrick and Synder was isolated from the infected roots of bean plants. Microscopic examination revealed that the mycelium was septate which produced microconidia and macroconidia. The pathogen was accordingly identified after comparing with that of the standard texts.   • Spot blotch in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is mainly caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana (Sacc.) Shoem in India and south Asian countries and inflected losses in yield up to 50 per cent. The isolates of B. Sorokiniana (BS1 to BS10) isolated from blighted leaf samples collected from different part of Jammu sub-tropics. Cultural and morphological variability of B. sorokiniana isolates exhibited that the colonies were effuse grey-white to effuse black and velvety-white mycelial growth with regular to irregular margins. The colour of colonies varied from grey to dark brown and white to light grey.

  • Sclerotium wilt/ rot of potato caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. is one of the major soil borne diseases of potato causing heavy losses every year. Ten isolates varied with respect to morphological characters. The colour of mycelium was light buff to cottony white. The sclerotial initiation started between 5th and 9 th day in different isolates. The growth rate was excellent in DSr1, DSr2 and DSr3 isolates. The colour of sclerotia was dark brown in DSr1 and DSr3; brown in DSr2, DSr4, BSr1 and HSr1 while it was light brown in BSr3, HSr2 and HSr3.

  • A study was conducted to evaluate the proximate composition, textural & colour profile and microbiological quality of duck meat patties incorporated with different levels of Black Gram Flour (BGF). Three formulations were prepared with the incorporation of BGF at different levels: 5% (T1), 10% (T2), and 15% (T3) and compared with the control (CT) sample prepared without BGF.   • A solar photovoltaic insect light trap was developed consisted of 10 Wp SPV panel, 12 V; 7 Ah lead acid battery, charge controller, dusk to down electrical circuit and adjustable stand.
