Ebook "Coral reef science: Strategy for ecosystem symbiosis and coexistence with humans under multiple stresses" aims to illuminate coral reefs which comprise a symbiotic system coexisting among ecosystems, landforms, and humans at various levels and to provide a scientific basis for its reconstruction. The authors conducted an interdisciplinary project called “Coral Reef Science” from 2008 to 2012 and obtained novel results and clues to unite different disciplines for a coral reef as a key ecosystem.

In this study, eukaryotic microbial communities associated with coral Acropora formosa and its natural surroundings, sediment and seawater, in a coral reef ecosystem of Whale Island, Nha Trang Bay, Vietnam were investigated. First, genetic material was taken from Acropora formosa’s surface mucus layer (SML) as well as the sediment underneath and seawater above the colonies from four different sampling locations in a coral reef ecosystem.

This paper relies on remote sensing images, collected from Sentinel-2 satellite, to preliminarily map the green space in Da Nang city. The remote sensing data was collected in November 2022. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) is used to recognize the green space pixels. Based on this preliminary study, the area of green space in Da Nang city is approximately 140 km2 , which occupies roughly 56% of the total urban area.

During the past decades, extensive parts of the Quercus brantii woodlands in the Zagros Mountains declined in size and habitat quality. We aimed to explore the variation of oak woodlands in the southern Zagros Mountains and to assess the vulnerability. We examined 49 plots at different altitudes and aspects, recorded the vascular plant species for tree and herb-layer composition, and collected data on topographic and edaphic factors.

The antibacterial agent triclosan (TCS) is added to many daily-used consumer products and can therefore reach the aquatic environment via treated wastewater and potentially harm aquatic ecosystems. Disturbance is an important factor affecting community composition and biodiversity in natural ecosystems. The Ventania hill system in central Argentina presents several ecosystem disturbances. Spiders are good candidates for studies related to human impact and conservation, as they can be good biological indicators of certain ecosystems. Therefore, we tried to elucidate if the abundance and spatial distribution of the mygalomorph spider Acanthogonatus centralis (Nemesiidae) are affected by different degrees of disturbance in these hilly grasslands.
