The aim of this thesis was to investigate and characterise the effect on electron dosimetry that localising different forms of bolus, both approximately tissue equivalent and non tissue equivalent, in a non conventional, although reproducible locations, (ie not on the phantom surface). This paper aims to provide a clearer picture of the main functions of short-term expatriate assignments. It is based on the results from an empirical study with involving 84 interviewees from different companies located in different host countries. The interviewees were managers mainly from Malaysian, Australian, and Singaporean companies that operated internationally. The duration of the interviews was in average of 1 hour 30 minutes. Extensive notes and voice recordings were made during the interviews.

This research is aimed at identifying and examining house price determinants at a local level to understand why house prices vary across different locations and the factors influencing such price differentiation. This research has adopted explanatory mixed research methods (QUAN -> QUAL) where quantitative analysis is used in the first stage to examine the Melbourne housing market and its performance at different levels. The research found there were certain periods where local house prices do not perform in line with either country, city or other local housing markets.

The investigation of magnetic field strength variations over subterranean layers may reveal their locations on Earth’s surface and provide physical and geometrical characteristics. Magnetic studies were carried out around Gölcük caldera lake using proton magnetometers to identify subsurface volcanic structures. The acquired data were inverted using four different edge detection algorithms such as analytic signal, tilt angle, theta map, horizontal gradient. Afterwards, the results were used to determine the locations of the anomalous structures.

Petrified wood samples are found within terrestrial sediments belonging to the Late Oligocene-Early Miocene Danişmen Formation in Malkara-Keşan located in the southwest of the Thrace Basin. The petrified wood in both regions is usually silicified and partly coalified. The silicification of the Tertiary wood in the Malkara-Keşan region is associated with volcanic activity and coeval sedimentation. Thin sections from petrified wood samples were taken as transverse, tangential, and radial sections.

The tectonic and structural properties of Erzurum and its surroundings have been investigated by evaluating the seismotectonic b - value, magnetic anomaly, edge detection analysis (total horizontal derivative (THDR) and tilt angle (TA)), Curie Point Depth (CPD), P-wave velocity (Vp), and Vp / Vs (S - wave velocity) ratio and by imaging the regional distributions of these parameters. For this purpose, all parameters have been combined to be able to reveal the new useful results on the study region and are presented for different locations and depths.

In this study, we evaluated chemical responses of K. obovata and S. caseolaris through comparisons of the content of metabolites and element ions in leaves of mangrove plants located under different ecological conditions in the Red River delta. In the low salinity area (Thuy Truong), specific leaf areas of K. obovata and S. caseolaris were much lower while the succulent index was higher compared to those in the high salinity area (Kim Trung).

Research on diversity of butterflies of Phu Quoc National Park, Kien Giang Province was carried out in November and December 2003. The park is located in the northern part of Phu Quoc Island. The research was conducted in different areas, from the inhabitant areas to the natural forests without disturbance, from sea water level to the highest peak of the Nui Chua (603 m).

To clarify the local environment of atoms, we apply the oxygen simplex (OS) which is characterized by the size, forming oxygen atom types and the number of sodium atoms located inside the OS. The simulation shows that the liquid comprises the Si-O network and sodium atoms are distributed through different OS types forming by four O atoms.

The present study was envisaged with the objective to isolate indigenous chromate tolerant bacteria from effluents and their subsequent utilization for chromium uptake or reduction. Samples were collected from two different Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs), located in Ludhiana (sample 1) and Jalandhar (sample 2). In both the samples, chromium was found to be the dominant metal contaminant. A total of 10 morphologically distinct isolates were tested for their tolerance to chromium in terms of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of Cr required for complete inhibition of growth.
