An experiment was carried out in Kittur Rani Channamma College of Horticulture, Arabhavi, Belgaum District, Karnataka state to know the response of soil application of diatomaceous earth (DE) as a source of silicon on leaf nutrient status of guava. In present investigation attempts have been made to develop nutrient rich vermicelli by addition of wheat and malted ragi flour in different proportions (90:10 80:20, 70:30, 60:40 and 50:50) for optimization of ratio for production of better quality vermicelli. It was observed that among all the formulations tried, vermicelli sample prepared with 70:30 (wheat: malted ragi flour) combination had similar sensory score as that of control.

Among the crop residues used for preparation of compost, wheat straw (WS) + urea (1.5 - 4.5 per cent) + rock phosphate (RP) (6 - 12 per cent) + Sulphur (S) (1 to 3% through gypsum) and shredded cotton stalk (SCS) + urea (1.5 - 4.5%) + RP (6 – 12%) + S (1 to 3% through gypsum) were found equally beneficial in improving the quality of compost. The effect of different kinds of organic nutrients on biochemical composition of mulberry and soil status of S-36 mulberry garden was assessed.
