Ebook "Thermal treatments of canned foods" describes the chemical features of canned food products and gives background information on the technology of canning foods. It explains how canned foods are different from other packaged foods, and illustrates and discusses their unique properties, including risks and failures. Canned foods are usually considered to offer a particularly long shelf-life and durability.

This study aimed to investigate the stability of Terminalia nigrovenulosa (T. nigrovenulosa) extract in response to heating treatment and hydrogen peroxide at pH 4 and pH 7. The changes of total polyphenol content, DPPH radical scavenging and reducing power were examined. The obtained results showed that the investigated extract was relatively stable under heating and sterilization condition (pH 4). However, it was unstable at pH 7.

Subclinical endometritis affects approximately 30% of lactating dairy cows, causing significant economic losses to the dairy industry. Yet, there is no efficient treatment available for this condition. The present study examines the effect of uterine flushing in repeat breeder cows with sterile normal saline solution 30 ml on day selection (oestrus), 4, 8, and 12.All the experimental groups the uterine flushing was common, the therapeutic protocol differ in each group after the uterine flushing.

The aim of this study was to develop an efficient protocol to standardize the concentration of sterilants for seed and explants sterilization for in vitro germination and regeneration respectively. The explants used are cotyledonary leaf, stem and hypocotyl of in vitro grown brinjal var.KKM1. For sterilization of seeds and explants, 5% sodium hypochlorite treatment for 3 minutes is the most effective sterilant concentration against the microbiological contamination. In subsequence, the regeneration protocol was optimised for the brinjal var.KKM1.

An efficient protocol was developed for commercial multiplication of gerbera using young capitulum as explant across different varieties of gerbera. Media for culture establishment, shoot regeneration, multiplication were standardized. Mercuric chloride treatment (0.1%) for 2 minutes was found to be the best surface sterilant for capitulum explants resulting in the minimum per cent contaminated growing cultures (17.27%).

Inactivation of alkaline phosphatase and shelf life extension of milk processed by hurdle technology
This paper investigates the activity of alkaline phosphatase and shelf life of raw milk processed under hurdle technology (HT). In this study the hurdles given to process raw milk are pulsed electric field and mild heat. The raw milk was preheated to 40°C and 50°C and then it was subjected to different voltage gradients viz.,10KV/cm, 20KV/cm and 30KV/cm at two different treatment time (3 and 6 minutes). The processed samples were collected in sterile glass bottles.

To investigate the effects of using different levels of turmeric powder on ileal micro-biota in laying hens, one hundred and forty four, 22-weeks old White Leghorn hens were divided into 6 treatments with 4 replications and each replicate had 6 birds. Control group (T1) was fed maize-soybean meal based diet without antibiotic while birds in T2 group were fed basal diet with antibiotic. In treatment groups T3, T4, T5 and T6 basal diet was supplemented with turmeric powder @ 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, and 1% respectively.

Chilli (Capsicum annuum) is an important spice as well as vegetable crop that are grown throughout the world especially in tropical and subtropical regions. India is a major producer, exporter and consumer of chilli. Chilli is grown in almost all states. Anthracnose disease can occur on leaves, stems, and both pre and post-harvest fruits. It is one of the major and devastating diseases of chilli causes severe losses (10-60%) both in yield and quality of the chilli depending upon the varieties. Diseases are the major problem for successful cultivation of chilli in India.

The present experiment was conducted to standardize an efficient protocol for rapid multiplication of an important cultivar Kufri Lima. The findings showed that the surface sterilization with 0.2% Bavistin + 0.4% streptocyclin for 45 minutes followed by 0.1% HgCl2 treatment for 55 seconds was optimum for in vitro culture establishment and maximum survival percentage.

The method of preparation of mass inoculum (MI) of native AM fungi was standardized following the principle of multiplying the nucleus inoculum (NI) of AMF (consortium of native soils) under partially sterilized in situ. Inoculation of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in root zone soils of different agricultural crops for which treatment no. 17 (Fenugreek –MaizeSorghum) host trap crops was found to be suitable for their mass multiplication.

Bacterial infections are most commonly encountered by clinicians in developing countries. Area-specific monitoring studies done to assess the type of pathogens and their antibiotic sensitivity patterns which help the clinician to opt for best empirical treatment. The hospital based cross sectional study is conducted on various samples collected using sterile techniques from 2474 clinically-suspected cases attending RDBP, Jaipuriya Hospital from Jan 2016 to Dec 2017 and tested bacteriologically using standard conventional procedures.

A biological study was conducted to determine the effects of dietary supplementation of different levels of rare earth elements (lanthanum and cerium) on intestinal microbial count, ileal digestibility in post peak laying hens. A total of 96 White Leghorn laying hens of 52 weeks of age were used in 8 week feeding trial. Birds were randomly allotted to three dietary treatments each with four replicates and 8 hens per replicate.
