Manufacturers constantly have to encounter fluctuated product demands. Accordingly, it is required to establish a production schedule that meets the future demands and concurrently has a low level of daily labor/materials’ deviation. The study "Evolutionary algorithm with feasibility rule based constraint-handling method for intelligent production scheduling" constructs an evolutionary algorithm for achieving this task. The Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm and the feasibility rule based method for constraint handling are integrated to develop this evolutionary algorithm.

This paper aims to apply the developed ADE to optimize truss structures subjected to frequency constraints. In addition, limitations of the AOA are also discussed, as well as how to overcome them. In each iteration, a randomly generated probability parameter is used to determine whether AOA or DE that would be used to generate new candidate solutions in the population.

The objective function is the total weight of the structure while the strength and serviceability constraints are evaluated with nonlinear inelastic analysis. To save computational cost, an improved differential evolution (DE) algorithm is employed. Compared to the conventional DE algorithm, the proposed method has two major improvements: (1) a self-adaptive mutation strategy based on the p-best method to enhance the balance between global and local searches and (2) use of the multi-comparison technique (MCT) to reduce redundant structural analyses.

This study develops an advanced tool for tackling constrained optimization problems based on an integration of feasibility rules and differential evolution metaheuristic. This tool aims at finding a solution with the most desired objective function value and concurrently satisfies all of the problem constraints. The optimization approach, named as feasibility rule based differential evolution (FRB-DE), has been developed in Microsoft Visual Studio with C# programming language. The newly developed tool has been tested with two optimization tasks in the field of civil engineering.

In this study, we introduce a new image contrast enhancement method using a link between sigmoid function and Di erential Evolution (DE) algorithm. DE algorithm is performed to identify the parameters in sigmoid function so that they can maximize the measure of contrast. The experimental results show that the proposed method not only retains the original image features but also enhances the contrast e ectively.

In this paper, an improved version of Differential Evolution algorithm, called iDE, is introduced to solve design optimization problems of composite laminated beams. The beams used in this research are Timoshenko beam models computed based on analytical formula. The iDE is formed by modifying the mutation and the selection step of the original algorithm. Particularly, individuals involved in mutation were chosen by Roulette wheel selection via acceptant stochastic instead of the random selection.

The purpose of this paper is to present a new and an alternative differential evolution (ADE) algorithm for solving unconstrained global optimization problems. In the new algorithm, a new directed mutation rule is introduced based on the weighted difference vector between the best and the worst individuals of a particular generation. The mutation rule is combined with the basic mutation strategy through a linear decreasing probability rule. This modification is shown to enhance the local search ability of the basic DE and to increase the convergence rate.
