  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of different position angles in twin-jet spray applications on droplet penetration of different nozzle types. Seven different nozzle types (standard flat fan, ST; narrow flat fan, STN; multirange, LU; lowdrift potential, AD; air-induction, IDK; twin-jet air-induction, IDKT) were used and nozzles were positioned +15° along the forward direction, perpendicular to ground surface 0˚ and reverse direction of forward –15°. Spray experiments at 100 L/ha constant application volume were conducted under controlled conditions of a closed facility.

  • Water management is one of the obstacles in the development and commercialization of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Sufficient humidification of the membrane directly affects the PEM fuel cell performance. Therefore, 2 different hydrophobic polymers, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES), were tested at different percentages (5, 10, and 20 wt.%) in the catalyst layer. The solution was loaded onto the surface of a 25 BC gas diffusion layer (GDL) via the spraying method.

  • An experimental rig along with a MATLAB script for examining mechanical diesel injection systems have been successfully developed in this work. The system is capable of extending further to include a high-speed camera for imaging spray breakup events occurring in the nearfield of injector exit. The system developed in this study allows to record hydraulics characteristics of a number of consecutive injection shots. The MATLAB script allows to isolate fuel line pressure signal of single injection shot from those consecutive events (e.g.

  • A field experiment was conducted during kharif 2015-16 and 2016-17 at the Regional Research Station (Old Alluvial Zone), Dakshin Dinajpur under Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya to study the effect of seed priming and foliar application of micronutrients on direct seeded upland rice (Oryza sativa L). The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with nine treatment combinations comprising seed priming and foliar spray of micronutrients. Treatments were replicated thrice. Significantly highest yield (3667.03 kg ha-1 ) was recorded in seed priming with 2.2% CaCl2.

  • The Relative toxicity of methyl-o-demeton, spinosad, acetamiprid, chlorfenapyr and fipronil were evaluated against mustard aphid, Lipaphis erysimi (Kalt.) on Gobhi sarson var. DGS-1 during 2017-18. The LC50 values of insecticides viz., methyl-o-demeton, spinosad, acetamiprid, chlorfenapyr and fipronil were 4.772, 55.406, 4.657, 5.554 and 15.107 ppm, respectively by direct spray method indicating that acetamiprid exhibited greater toxicity among the tested insecticides.

  • Airborne suspended particulate matter can be of primary origin, i.e. emitted directly into the atmosphere or of secondary origin, i.e. formed in the atmosphere from gaseous species by either homogeneous or heterogeneous chemical reactions. Due to these different emission sources, particles have different chemical composition and size distributions. Depending on their size, particles have a different potential to be transported over either long or short distances [1].
