Directional distance function

This paper presents the design and validation of a neutron survey meter. The meter consists of a PRESCILA neutron probe (with good sensitivity, directional response, gamma rejection, and enhanced high-energy response to 20 MeV) and an electrometer developed at Non-Destructive Evaluation center. The homogeneity response of the PRESCILA neutron probe was investigated as a function of distances from the source in order to obtain the appropriate distance for accurate count-rate measurements using the neutron survey meter.

In this paper, we measure and analyse profit efficiency and productivity of Vietnamese banks using a newly developed index approach which is based on the directional distance function. Our findings indicate that the average bank operates quite far below the frontier of the best-practice bank, mainly due to allocative inefficiency rather than technical inefficiency, and that Vietnamese banks experience modest productivity growth.

Onshore applications of direct current resistivity (DCR) along shorelines suffer a short-circuit-like phenomenon due to electrical current flowing through a more conductive body of water rather than ground. Our study of the numerical simulation of DCR data with a three-dimensional forward model demonstrated that the apparent resistivity was reduced as a function of the sea depth and the distance of measurement site to the shoreline.

Brachytherapy Brachytherapy is the direct implantation of radioactive sources into the prostate. It is based on the principle that the deposition of radiation energy in tissues decreases as a function of the square of the distance from the source (Chap. 81). The goal is to deliver intensive irradiation to the prostate, minimizing the exposure of the surrounding tissues. The current standard technique achieves a more homogeneous dose distribution by placing seeds according to a customized template based on CT and ultrasonographic assessment of the tumor and computer-optimized dosimetry.

The clamping and lifting device is normally stored at an adequate distance from the winding ropes where it is protected by a weather-proof shelter. From this position it can be moved, as required, into the winding compartments and be arranged for the pre-selected pulling direction.
