High-density single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most abundant and robust form of genetic variants and hence make highly favorable markers to determine the genetic diversity and relationship, enhancing the selection of breeding materials and the discovery of novel genes associated with economically important traits.

The relationship between monogenic and polygenic forms of epilepsy is poorly understood and the extent to which the genetic and acquired epilepsies share common pathways is unclear. Here, we use an integrated systems-level analysis of brain gene expression data to identify molecular networks disrupted in epilepsy

Biomarkers and target-specific phenotypes are important to targeted drug design and individualized medicine, thus constituting an important aspect of modern pharmaceutical research and development. More and more, the discovery of relevant biomarkers is aided by in silico techniques based on applying data mining and computational chemistry on large molecular databases.

Diabetes or diabetes mellitus is a complex or polygenic disorder, which is characterized by increased levels of glucose (hyperglycemia) and deficiency in insulin secretion or resistance to insulin over an elongated period in the liver and peripheral tissues. Thiazolidine-2,4-dione (TZD) is a privileged scaffold and an outstanding heterocyclic moiety in the field of drug discovery, which provides various opportunities in exploring this moiety as an antidiabetic agent.

We present a novel framework for the discovery and representation of general semantic relationships that hold between lexical items. We propose that each such relationship can be identified with a cluster of patterns that captures this relationship. We give a fully unsupervised algorithm for pattern cluster discovery, which searches, clusters and merges highfrequency words-based patterns around randomly selected hook words. Pattern clusters can be used to extract instances of the corresponding relationships. ...

In his opening address to the conference, Jon wood, who coordinates the research programme at the Institute, traced the origins of the conference to a series of exploratory conversations on the relationship between archaeology and contemporary art with independent curator Katy rochester. From the outset, wood, rochester and their colleagues in leeds sought proposals from archaeologists who were interested in sculpture and in sharing new ideas with sculpture historians.
