Chronic intercondylar fractures of the distal humerus with massive bone defects and severe comminution in the metaphysis are rare and complex injuries that are challenging for surgeons to treat, as reconstructing the triangular structure of the distal humerus is difficult and may have a severe impact on functional outcomes, especially in young patients, for whom total elbow arthroplasty is usually not a suitable option due to significant impairment in upper limb strength.

Humeral shaft fractures are generally managed with the conventional posterior open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) or minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO). This study was aimed at comparing the outcomes of these surgical techniques in terms of the vascular integrity of the mid-distal humeral shaft.

Management of distal humeral fractures remains to be one of the most challenging aspects in trauma surgery. Low profile plating systems with variable angle screw fixation represent a crucial advancement to the established angular stable locking plates with considerable attention in current research.

This book is a step-by-step, thoroughly illustrated guide to external fracture fixation techniques using the JET-X® system, featuring full freedom clamps. Chapters written by leading orthopaedic trauma surgeons describe the use of these techniques for femoral shaft fractures, supracondylar femur fractures, tibial plateau fractures, tibia fractures, pilon fractures, pelvic fractures, distal radius fractures, supracondylar elbow fractures, and humeral shaft fractures. More than 175 full-color illustrations demonstrate the techniques....
