While an important surgical landmark of the dentate line has been established for locally advanced lower rectal cancer (LALRC), the prognostic significance of dentate line invasion (DLI) has not been well defined. This study aimed to explore the impact of DLI on prognosis in LALRC patients with anal sphincter involvement after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by surgery.

Although the prognosis of locally advanced cervical cancer has improved dramatically, survival for those with stage IIIB-IVA disease or lymph nodes metastasis remains poor. It is believed that the incorporation of intensity-modulated radiotherapy into the treatment of cervical cancer might yield an improved loco-regional control, whereas more cycles of more potent chemotherapy after the completion of concurrent chemotherapy was associated with a diminished distant metastasis.

This French nationwide NETSARC exhaustive prospective cohort aims to explore the impact of system‑ atic re-excision (RE) as adjuvant care on overall survival (OS), local recurrence free survival (LRFS), and local and distant control (RFS) in patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) with positive microscopic margins (R1) after initial resection performed outside of a reference center.

In nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC), women have a lower incidence and mortality rate than men. Whether sex influences the prognosis of NPC patients remains debatable. We retrospectively examined the influence of sex on treatment-related side effects and prognosis in NPC.

The clinical profiles of recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma (RLS) need to be explored. The recurrence patterns of RLS are controversial and ambiguous. Methods A total of 138 patients with recurrent RLS were finally recruited in the study. The analysis of overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) was performed by Kaplan‒Meier analysis.

Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) is a crucial predictor of lymph node metastasis (LNM). However, few studies have investigated the LVI positivity rate and its clinical significance in pT1b esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) using immunohistochemistry and elastin staining.

In clinical practice, the effect of durvalumab and radiation pneumonitis (RP) on survival after intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) is not fully understood. The purpose of this retrospective study was to investigate factors related to distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS), progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) after IMRT for locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (LA-NSCLC).

Neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy has been proven superior to adjuvant treatment in reducing the rate of local recurrence without impairing cancer related survival or the incidence of distant metastases in standard protocols of neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy.

To evaluate the prognostic value of maximum primary tumor diameter (MPTD) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: Three hundred and thirty-three consecutive, newly-diagnosed NPC patients were retrospectively reviewed. Kaplan-Meier analysis and the log-rank test were used to estimate overall survival (OS), failure-free survival (FFS), distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) and local relapse-free survival (LRFS).

Recurrent T1-2 Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (rT1-2) may be salvaged by 3D – CRT (3D-Conformal Radiotherapy), IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy), Brachytherapy (BT), BT with external radiotherapy. The purpose of this study is to address the efficacy and toxicity profile of aforementioned four modalities for rT1-2 NPC.

The impact of cumulative dose of cisplatin on clinical outcomes of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients who received intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) was evaluated. The cumulative dose of cisplatin is associated with OS and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) among NPC patients who received IMRT.

Treatment of patients with non-metastatic, locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) includes pre-operative chemoradiation, total mesorectal excision (TME) and post-operative adjuvant chemotherapy. This trimodality treatment provides local tumor control in most patients; but almost one-third ultimately die from distant metastasis. Most survivors experience significant impairment in quality of life (QoL), due primarily to removal of the rectum.

Prognosis is poor for patients with malignant progression such as distant metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Evidence indicates that miR-448 promotes the proliferation and inhibits apoptosis of OSCC cells. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the function of miR-448 to predict tumor progression and prognosis of OSCC.

Visceral organ metastasis is associated with poor survival outcomes in terms of metastasis free- and overall survival in breast carcinomas. Identification of a gene expression profile in tumours that selects a subpopulation of patients that is more likely to develop visceral organ metastases will help elucidate mechanisms for the development of distant metastases and could be of clinical value.
