This study was conducted to evaluate the factors contributing to the spatial distribution of European hazelnut (Corylus avellane L.) in Bhutan and determine the suitable areas for cultivation of the crop in the near future (2040-2060) and distant future (2060-2080) under different climate scenarios of Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 2.6 and RCP 4.5 in Bhutan.

Conserving the plant genetic resources through any means is of utmost importance to prevent the loss of plant biodiversity. Long-term storage using liquid nitrogen (LN) is usually adopted for developing long-term base collections of crops for use in the distant future. The fruit crops are commonly propagated through vegetative means and are majorly conserved as ex situ field gene banks, which require large areas and demand intensive field management.

A set of 75 pigeonpea genotypes were evaluated during kharif 2017-18, to determine the genetic divergence among these genotypes for 17 seed yield and quality characters and to identify divergent parents. UPGMA method of Hierarchical Cluster analysis used with City Block distances grouped these genotypes into ten distinct clusters comprising of one to twenty genotypes. Maximum inter cluster distance was observed between cluster II and VIII followed by cluster II and VI and cluster II and IX.

Ten SSR markers were used to characterize 22 taro cultivars from North East India. The study revealed that the SSR primers like uq201- 302, Ce1 B03 and Ce1 C06 with PIC=0.82, 0.76 and 0.76 respectively were found to be the most informative markers which can be used for future molecular works on taro. The Jaccard’s similarity coefficient analysis ranging from 0.103 to 0.89 presented high level of genetic distance as no true duplicates were detected. The dendrogram constructed categorized the cultivars into two main clusters I and II.

To trace the origin of the wig our investigations must be carried to far distant times. It was worn in Egypt in remote days, and the Egyptians are said to have invented it, not merely as a covering for baldness, but as a means of adding to the attractiveness of the person wearing it. On the mummies of Egypt wigs are found, and we give a picture of one now in the British Museum. This particular wig probably belonged to a female, and was found near the small temple of Isis, Thebes. "As the Egyptians always shaved their heads," says Dr. T. Robinson, "they could...

Another domain located, in part, in the realm beyond rationality and control is the study of learners’ interest. The study of interest has exam- ined the degree to which learners’ are enjoying an activity or topic, pre- fer one thing rather than another, and want to continue with an activity in the near and distant future. Of particular relevance to this essay is the attention given to the inspired, emergent quality of engaging experi- ences (Renninger, Hidi, & Krapp, 1992). Their constructs of situational interest (a characteristic...

Some of the actual queries resulting from storing everything and being able to pivot or correlate using various metadata attributes, include: finding the title of a book from an email, invoice, or recipient’s thank you; retrieving web pages for a reference while authoring a paper and commuting on the train; finding a particular tile model that was used in a 5 year old home renovation by retrieving the contractor’s specifications and invoice; recalling a distant colleague by looking at all correspondences about “storage”; replaying a stored phone message for a name or possibly shar...

Long-term care has been and remains the distant cousin of health policy. Newspapers are full of commentary on what 2008 presidential candidates have to say about “universal health coverage,” the new expression for what used to be called national health insurance. However, one would be hard-pressed to describe what any of them think about long-term care.

These cancers commonly appear on sun-exposed areas of the body such as the face, ears, neck, lips, and backs of the hands. They can also develop in scars or chronic skin sores elsewhere. They sometimes start in actinic keratoses (described below). Less often, they form in the skin of the genital area. Squamous cell carcinomas tend to grow and spread more than basal cell cancers. They are more likely to invade fatty tissues just beneath the skin, and are more likely to spread to lymph nodes and/or distant parts of the body, although this is still uncommon. Keratoacanthomas...

The dynamic nature of the Jepara industrial complex also affects the Indonesian wood products chain, attracting timber produced from forests located throughout Central Java (Figure 1) and beyond, including the outer islands. Thousands of trucks and pickups bring logs into the district from distant places, including state and community forest plantations.

As of June 2002, astronomers had discovered more than 100 other planets orbiting distant suns. With advances in tech- nology, that number will surely increase during the opening decades of the twenty-first century. Although our explorations of the Cosmos hold great promise of future discoveries, among all of the known worlds, Earth remains unique. Thus far it is the only known planet with blue skies, warm seas, and life.

In the not too distant future, the Web will be everywhere in the world. By the year 2003, the explosion of Web−enabled electronic business (e−Business) will be worth more than US $1 trillion and the Web users will be more than 600 million. This is offering organizations previously unheard of opportunities. To be successful or survive, industry leaders have made strategies towards e−Business, and others, sooner or later, more or less, will have to become certain kinds of e−Business.

The Information Age On the information superhighway there will be few speed limits and no turning back Financial Times, 1994 Information is vital to modern business. Effective use of information is, at least, an issue of money; more often it is one of survival, and survival is not compulsory. The way in which information is generated, stored, transmitted and processed is changing in a way that will revolutionise many people’s work practices in the not too distant future.

Picture yourself in the not-too-distant future driving your new car along a rural interstate highway on a business trip. The cruise control is maintaining the speed at a steady 100 km/hr (62 mph) and there is relatively little traffic. As you approach a slower car, the speed-control system slows your car to match the speed of the slower car and maintain a safe distance of about 53 m (165 ft) behind the slowe/r car. When oncoming traffic clears, you enter the passing lane and your car automatically increases speed as you pass the slower car....
