  • The objective of this study was to breed muskmelon hybrids possessing higher TSS, flesh, and rind thickness, early and total yields; lower seed cavity; and resistance to fruit fly. Eight genetically diverse parents viz., Kesar, exotic collections (EC-2, EC-3, EC-4, EC-5), and indigenous collections (GP-210, GP-211, GP-141) were crossed in a diallel fashion excluding reciprocals. The resulting 28 F1's were evaluated with their parents in completely randomized block design with three replications under open field conditions.

  • In the study of hydrobiology of water basins, a separate study of higher plants is required. Higher plants growing in water for aquatic organisms remain not only a habitat, a nutrient, a source of oxygen, but they are also important in the course of many biological processes in this environment. The vegetation of aquatic and coastal aquatic plants weakens the rate of flow of water, impedes the movement of silt and mineral particles, has antierosion significance and is used to strengthen the banks of water bodies.

  • Several unicellular microorganisms use small signalling molecules to find out their local concentration. The processes involved in the production and recognition of these signals are generally known as quorum sensing (QS). Unicellular microorganisms to manage their activities use this kind of cellto-cell communication, which allows them to work as multi-cellular systems. Newly, several groups have confirmed artificial intra species and inter-species communication through synthetic circuits, which incorporate components of bacterial QS systems.
