Diversification and its determinants

Saudi Arabia targets diversification policy in the Vision 2030. This study estimates the production, exports, government revenue, investment and employment diversification indices and also finds its determinants. Increasing inflation promotes the production and export diversification and depresses the investment, government revenue and employment diversification. The depreciation policy encourages the government revenue diversification and reduces investment and employment diversification.

Crop diversification is an important strategy for overall development of agriculture of the nation, in general and eastern India, in particular, where abundance of rich natural resources is available. The present investigation was an attempt to know the extent of diversification and identify the influencing factors of diversification in this region. The study is based on secondary data from 2001-02 to 2014-15.

This study identifies the determinants of growth of selected companies in India. It is based on a sample of 250 companies given in the PROWESS database developed by Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). It covers a period of ten years, i.e., from 2004-05 to 2013-14. The growth of companies is measured in terms of compounded annual growth rate of net sales and market capitalization.

The aim of this study is not only to explore if portfolio rebalancing can lead to a better performance compared to a buy-and-hold (B&H) strategy but to find out if there is a correlation between the weight-based concentration of the B&H portfolio and the success of a rebalancing strategy. For these reasons, it is firstly discussed how rebalancing affects portfolio diversification, risk-adjusted return and the utility value for a certain investor.

In order to provide an estimate of the attainable gains in the liquidity premium, the Commission has conducted a statistical analysis of each issuance of sovereign bonds in the euro area after 1999. The size of the issuance is used as an approximation (as it is the most broadly available indicator even if it might underestimate the potential gain in liquidity premia) of how liquid a bond issuance is, and the coefficient in a regression determines the attainable gains from issuing bonds in higher volumes 8 .
