One class, B, is cold drawn with higher than normal (heavy) drafts to provide higher strength levels, and four grades provide improved machinability.

In this study the performance and cost-economics were compared for maize seed. During the study it was found that the mean draft requirement measured during experiment was 384.17 N with an average power output of 0.158 kW/ h. The average speed of operation of the planter was found to be 1.46 km/h. The average seed to seed distance was 30 cm and average row to row distance is 45 cm. The depth of seed placement was 6 cm and actual seed rate observed was 13.2 kg/ha. The theoretical field capacity was 0.127 ha/hr

The project was taken to find out the designing parameters of the planter and the machine component for small power engine. In designing, engineering parameters like draft of the planter, working width, seed box capacity, number of furrow openers, power requirement and the engineering views were drawn. Based on the designing parameter and CAD component of the planter it is possible to develop the planter for the sowing of crops. The present work was therefore taken up to study the soil coverage in the furrow with a developed furrow covering device with shovel and shoe type furrow opener. Availability of draft requirement data of primary and secondary tillage implement is necessary to implement selection, tractor- implement matching and determination of fuel consumption for different tillage systems. In this research, pull type load cell was along with an auxiliary tractor was used to determine the draft requirement of selected tillage implement. It was observed that the draft requirement of Mb plough was maximum at 619 kgf compared to disc plough, disc harrow and cultivator. The draft effecting soil parameters were also determined.
