In this research the effect of ground proximity on the lift, drag and moment coefficients of inverted, two-dimensional aerofoils was investigated. The purpose of the study was to examine the effect ground proximity on aerofoils post stall, in an effort to evaluate the use of active aerodynamics to increase the performance of a race car. The aerofoils were tested at angles of attack ranging from 0° – 135°. The tests were performed at a Reynolds number of 2.16 x 105 based on chord length. Forces were calculated via the use of pressure taps along the centreline of the aerofoils.

The purpose of the research is to determine and compare the impact of some factors on aerodynamic drag force during the inflation of a parachute. The canopy’s shape (flat circular type and extended skirt 10% flat type), of the length of suspension lines (be in proportion to nominal diameter from 0.6 to 1.5) are considered. Measurement of the drag force of the parachute models is carried out in an open return wind tunnel.

The test used Reynolds number 6.577 x 103 on a 1: 100 scale model. Testing was conducted at varying the angle of attack of 0° - 60°. The flow visualization was measured using dye injection method. The result of the research using GAMA water tunnel showed the aerodynamic force and vortex dynamics phenomenon that showed the difference in lift and drag coefficients. The results of this visualization showed the formation of vortex nuclei that occur in the wings of the aircraft model.

In this paper, a method of optimizing geometry by combining CFD and evolution algorithms (EA) is presented with the goal of reducing the drag coefficient. The initial geometry was built by a list of control points, and they are connected by BSpline curve.

Within the scope Gaussian equivalent linearization (GEL), a new mean square criterion based on Hermite polynomial error sample f13:nctions for determining the coefficients of the equivalent linearization is proposed to linearize non-linear functions of the zero mean Gaussian random process. Application to the Morison's equation for wave forces is presented that shows significant improvements over the corresponding accuracy of the classical GEL.
