Synchrotron-based X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), specifically X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectroscopy, indicated the dominant species of As in soil and sediment samples was arsenate [As(V)], which is similar to the chemical form of As in the groundwaters of this region. No evidence of arsenite [As(III)] was identified in any of the solid-phase samples, including earthworm castings.

Zooplankton samples were collected from water wells in Kuyubeli village (Kozan, Adana, Turkey). A total of 24 zooplanktonic species were identified, including 13 rotifers, 9 copepods, and 2 cladocerans. The genus Speocyclops was reported for the first time from Turkish inland waters. Well water is used primarily as a source of drinking water and mostly for irrigation by the vast majority of the rural population in Turkey.

The aim of this study was to determine natural radioactive and heavy element concentrations in Mersin drinking water samples before the commissioning of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant and to collect data for possible environmental contaminations in the future. Drinking water samples were taken from the provincial center, districts, and populated villages. The annual effective dose of natural radionuclides and cancer risks were calculated for each person living in the city. Hazard index and cancer risk were calculated, which were caused by heavy elements.

The paper describes a novel dip-and-gauge hand-held sensor device for the rapid, cost-effective, and on-site detection of bisphenol A and arsenic in drinking water samples. Different working electrode diameters ranging from 1.5 mm to 4 mm were designed and fabricated to construct a new electrochemical biosensor. The sensor was employed for the chronoamperometric detection of bisphenol A and voltammetric determination of arsenic in drinking water samples. Bisphenol A measurements resulted in a detection limit of 10 ng mL−1 with a linear range of 0–4000 ng mL−1.

Human body is greatly exposed to aluminum due to its high abundance in the environment. This nonessential metal is a threat to the patients of chronic renal disorders, as it is easily retained in their plasma and quickly accumulates in different tissues. Thus, there is great need to remove it from the aqueous environment. In this study, Al3+ imprinted semiinterpenetrating polymer network (semi-IPN)-based cryogel composite was prepared and applied for the purification of environmental and drinking water samples from aluminum.

In this study the hydrochemical characteristics of the Manchalapur tank water or lake was analysed for its suitability for domestic, fish rearing and irrigation purposes. A total of 10 water samples each were drawn from the inlet, outlet and two other locations in the water spread area of the tank and analysed for TDS, pH, EC, BOD5, COD, major ions, detergent and pathogen contamination in three distinct seasons, viz. pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon, based on standard methods.

The physico-chemical ex-situ study was conducted for 21 groundwater sample of SIDCUL - Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand. The various physicochemical parameters such as pH, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Calcium (Ca2+), Magnesium (Mg2+), Sodium (Na+ ), Potassium (K+ ), Bicarbonate (HCO3), Carbonate (CO3), Chloride (Cl- ), Turbidity and Nitrate (NO3) were determined using standard procedures. BIS water quality standard for drinking purpose was used to compare the results.

One of the easiest and efficient way of water conservation to solve drinking water scarcity is rooftop water harvesting. To evaluate the performance of the first flush with micromesh filter system, inflow and outflow of the rooftop water samples were analysed for pH, EC, TDS, SAL and TSS parameters. In general, the PH, electrical conductivity, and TDS of the roof water samples were within the drinking water standards and the first flush with micromesh filter system was found to reduce TDS values.

Diseases due to consumption of water contaminated with microbes extract considerable morbidity and mortality. Monitoring of drinking water quality is thus of paramount importance. This study was done to assess water quality of hospital and residential water supply at our Medical Institute. Drinking water samples were collected from taps water coolers and submersible pumps and analyzed by multiple tube culture method to obtain Presumptive coliform count which is an indicator of recent faecal contamination.

Of all the samples tested only 51/152 (33.55%) were found to be excellent even after the inclusion of household filtered waters. Such high percentage of unsatisfactory water samples calls for public awareness, immediate attention, and action by the authorities. A comprehensive development program must include a practical and cost-effective approach to provide potable water and a more aggressive approach to reduce the risk of water-related transmission of diseases. Of all the samples tested only 51/152 (33.55%) were found to be excellent even after the inclusion of household filtered waters.

Groundwater is one of the crucial natural resources which meets the requirement of drinking as well as for irrigation. Increasing population, erratic distribution of rainfall and their rising demand for water in domestic and irrigation is fulfilled by groundwater resources. Hence, a geo-spatial study was conducted for groundwater sampling for water quality assessment to determine the suitability of water for drinking and irrigation purpose. For this study, five villages around AEC & RI, Kumulur, Trichy, Tamil Nadu were selected as a study area with an aerial extent of 45.1 km2 .
