Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is world’s most widely cultivated food grain crop. At initial decades of 21st century, one probability of a great famine appeared in the world due to long drought in tropics and subtropics and at the same time it appeared more dangerously because of the climate change threat. System of Wheat Intensification (SWI) which is somewhat based on the fundamental principles of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) is a new wheat cultivation technique which might act as a significantly new weapon as a part of climate-smart farming.

Thirty genotypes of Maize which included twenty eight inbred lines and two checks maintained at D(K)ARS, SKUAST-K were used for the study carried out in the Department of Crop Physiology, University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK Bangalore. In this programme the genetic variability for Epicuticular Wax Content (EWC) was studied. The data of the experiment revealed a significant genetic variability in epicuticular waxes among the germplasm lines of maize. Accordingly, the EWC ranged from 1.56 (KDM-921A) µg/cm2 to 7.54 (KDM-954) µg/cm2 with a mean of 4.25 µg/cm2 .

Intermittent drought stress in rainfed ecosystem significantly limits the production of Ranjit, the most predominant high yielding rice variety of North East India. In order to understand the genetic basis of drought tolerance a mapping population comprising 85 F4 individuals between ‘Ranjit’ and a drought tolerant cultivar, ARC10372 was developed and genotyped with 80 microsatellite markers. 7 possible linkage groups were analysed by changing the LOD values and the recombination frequencies in the Join map 4.0 software package.

The present study was conducted in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh to study the profile characteristics and Information Source Utilization Pattern of rain fed groundnut farmers. Ananathapur farmers are largely dependent on drought-prone, rain-fed agriculture; and mostly a single crop of groundnut is sown in about 8 lakh ha under such harsh and agro climatic conditions. Of its geographical area of 19, 13,000 ha, (largest in AP) 10, 00,000 ha are rain-fed. The present state of A.P has totally about 40 lakh ha under rain fed cultivation and 25% of it is in Ananathapur district.

Of all the abiotic stresses limiting crop productivity, drought is considered as the most important. Despite various research initiatives, drought continues to be a major challenge. To overcome this limitation and to improve crop productivity, it is important to improve the drought tolerance associated traits in cultivated plants. Twenty genotypes of tomato were evaluated in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) at the Department of Plant breeding and Genetics, College of Agriculture, Vellayani, during 2015-2017 to identify high yielding genotypes of tomato under water stress condition.

This paper helps to fill this gap. Specifically, interviews with industry and farmer respondents uncovered an increased amount and intensity of precipitation, an escalation in the frequency and severity of droughts, a rise in the frequency and severity in periods of elevated temperatures, and a shift in seasons for the optimal production of tea are the major factors affecting the tea production in the studied area.

Groundnut (Arachis hypogea L.,) is one of the world’s important crops, ranking fifth in oil production. Groundnut seed is a rich food source providing quality vegetable oil (48%-50%), protein (26%-28%), dietary fibre, minerals and vitamins. Total world production of Groundnut was 47 million tonnes from 27 million hectares. In Andhra Pradesh Groundnut is cultivated in 7.35 lakh hectares with 10.43 lakh tonnes production and 1426 kg/ha productivity. The Groundnut area of YSR district is decreasing and same trend reflected in production and productivity also.

The present investigation was undertaken in eight districts of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra State (India) to study the socio-economic, psychological and situational causes of farmers’ suicide. Data was collected from the family members of the victims with the help of a specially designed interview schedule. Statistical tools like mean, standard deviation, percentage and frequency were used. Results revealed that majority of the victims were in middle age, educated up to high school, annual income between Rs. 50001 /- to 150000 /-, and marginal to small land holders. Only 4.

Remote sensing has several advantages in the field of agronomical research purpose. The assessment of agricultural crop canopies has provided valuable insights in the agronomic parameters. Remote sensing play a significant role in crop classification, crop monitoring and yield assessment. The use of remote sensing is necessary in the field of agronomical research purpose because they are highly vulnerable to variation in soil, climate and other physico- chemical changes.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the impacts of climate chang on the water cycle are already evident and projected to increase substantially in the futur Climate change impacts the quantity and qua of freshwater resources and the frequency of extreme events, such as floods and droughts While climate change is only one of many drivers increasing pressure on water resource its impact is projected to be significant and to accelerate over time. Climate change reinforc and adds urgency to the case for good water resources management more generally.
