Thirty two (32) no. of 6 to 9 months of age average body weight 88 kg were brought from a private dairy farm and were grouped into four (4 x 4). Twenty four three months old kids were randomly divided into four groups considering their sex and body weight in such a way that each group carry three male and three female with non-significant difference in body weights between the treatment groups. An extensive survey was carried out to record feeding practices and nutritional status of lactating buffaloes in Charkhi Dadri district of Haryana state. The survey was conducted during rabi season (January, 2019 - February, 2019). Twelve villages, representing all the blocks of the district were selected for this survey. Samples of feeds, fodder, milk, hair and blood were collected from five families from each category of farmers i.e. belonging to landless category and farmers with land holding in a village. Thus a total of 120 lactating buffaloes were selected for the study.

Theoretical training starts with an explanation of the digestive system of ruminants and how ruminant animals are different from non-ruminants. Diagrammes of the diges- tive system of ruminants in power-point slides as well as video clips on the digestion and absorption of different nutrients is also shown during the training. The session on animal feeding includes name, identification, class of feed, major sources of nutrients, i.e. energy and protein, dry matter content, palatability, digestibility, intake etc.
