  • In this paper, we present an in-house flexible and portable lidar system integrating an inexpensive, passively Q-switched laser Nd: YAG and a detection module operating in both analog and photon counting mode. This system is designed to study the atmospheric boundary layer (BL) and cirrus clouds (CC). The passively Q-switched Nd:YAG pulsed laser, operating at a second-harmonic generation (SHG) wavelength of 532 nm, features a pulse energy up to 200 mJ, a repetition rate of 1 Hz to 15 Hz, and a pulse duration of 15 ns.

  • This is the first study that describes calls from anurans of this area. Five acoustics parameters were measured, including call duration, call repetition rate (calls/s), inter–call interval, number of notes or pulses in a call, dominant frequency of call (kHz). An acoustic review of Vietnamese members of the genera showed that the dominant frequency of the calls to be is distinctly different in the species of investigated Microhyla and Rhacophorus species, it could be considered as static properties.

  • In this paper, we report a numerical study of the supercoin (SC) generation in solid-core photonic crystal fibers infiltrated with water-ethanol mixtures.   • The effects of sucrose pulsing, cold storage methods (dry and wet) and cold storage duration (one and two weeks) on the post-storage attributes of cut lilies in Dalat were studied. After harvest, the lilies were treated with sucrose pulsing solutions consisting of three concentrations of sucrose (0, 50, and 100 g/L) in combination with 0.2 mM silver thiosulphate (STS) and water as control for 24h at room temperature, then placed in wet and dry cold storage at 2.5 °C for one and two weeks.

  • The present investigation dealt with the effect of temperature and duration of pulsing with silver thiosulphate (STS) on the peroxidative changes of cut rose petals during vase life period. From the investigation it was proved that flowers pulsed with 0.4mM STS at 10oC for a short period of 8 hours significantly decreased the catalase and peroxidase activities thereby extending the shelf life of cut roses. The enhanced longevity of cut roses was due to suppressing the formation of peroxides and free radicals in the plant tissue.

  • Biology and morphometrics of blue butterfly, Lampides boeticus infesting cowpea, was studied. The eggs were disc-shaped, finely sculptured and pale green in colour. The mean egg period observed was 3.20±0.20 days. There were four larval instars. The later instars were found attended by red ants in the field. The first instar caterpillar was fringed with hairs while second instar had sparse hairs. The third and fourth instar caterpillars were slug like, pea green in colour. The average sizes of the head capsule from first to fourth instars were found to be 0.11, 0.25, 0.63 and 1.

  • This amplifier is used to amplify nanojoule and femtosecond Ti:Sapphire laser pulses to yield a 70 µJ pulse energy at 10 Hz repetition rate, which corresponds to an amplification factor of 10000 times.   • Effect of the pulse electric current on mechanical properties of an ultra-high strength steel (UHSS) is experimentally investigated. A single pulse of electric current with a short duration of 0.36 sec is applied to the specimen under tensile plastic loading. The experimental result showed that flow stress of the UHSS nearly instantly drops at moment of electric current, following strain hardening until necking of the specimen. Uniform elongation completely depends on the pulsing strain, while ultimate tensile strength slightly changes after electric current.

  • The pulsed diode end-pumped passively Q-switched solid-state Nd:YAG lasers are investigated experimentally. A high power laser diode (pulse repetition rate adjustable from 1 Hz to 10 kHz, pulse duration of 600 s) is used as a pumping laser. The obtained results show that the pulsed diode end-pumped passively Q-switched solid state Nd- doped lasers have the advantages in controlling pulse repetition rate, improving nanosecond solid-state laser pulse power and stability (low jitter) in comparison with the use of CW diode end-pumping.

  • (BQ) In this research, an iso duration current pulse generator has been proposed to achieve good surface finish. An experimental performance evaluation has been conducted with conventional transistor pulse train generator and modified iso current pulse generator by Taguchi L27 orthogonal array design. The machining characteristics have been evaluated for both the pulse generators. It is found the that modified iso duration current pulse generator has produced better surface quality with higher material removal rate than the conventional transistor pulse train generator.
