Xem 1-11 trên 11 kết quả DUS characterization for germplasm
  • In field pea germplasm a wide range of genetic variability is present for various morphological traits; In this regard, present genotypes were dimly characterized for these morphological descriptors to establish DUS. DUS test is important so that new varieties can achieve legal access to their market or their protection under PPV&FR Act, 2001. The present paper focuses on DUS characterization for 126 genotypes of field pea with diverse origin including four checks viz., HFP 8909, HFP 715, HFP 529 and HFP 9426 grown in Augmented Design. The study was carried out during Rabi season 2018-19.

  • For the establishment of the distinctness among 31 accessions of Oryza glaberrima, eight morphological traits following Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability test (DUS) studied. Out of 31 accessions studied, two accessions viz., EC861804, EC861805 were found to be highly distinct as they possessed distinct traits namely purple split ligule, medium green leaves, erect flag leaf, presence of awn along with lodging tolerance indicating their usefulness as donors for crop improvement programmes. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences for all the characters studied.

  • Cotton is king of fibre crops and has economic importance worldwide and new cultivars have to be released continuously to meet the demanding needs of economic market. To meet our requirement broad genetic base is needed which is limited due to continuous usage of common parents for crossing. So the germplasm, advanced breeding lines are to be characterised for variable characters. DUS characters listed by PPV FRA, New Delhi were used for this purpose. The field studies were carried out during kharif 2017-18 at RARS, Lam.

  • Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) is the most important grain legume crop grown in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. In India cowpea is grown as sole, mix-crop, intercrop systems. Cowpea is however, the only pulse suited to both arid and semi-arid regions and adapted better than any other pulses in high rainfall regions. As a good source of proteins, calcium and iron, it is recognized for many routine uses of food, feed, forage, fodder, vegetable and a number of dishes prepared from its grains.

  • Studies were carried out on mango varieties developed at Horticulture Garden, BAU Sabour to develop and document descriptors, during 2016-2017. The experiment was laid out in row column design with three replications having 24 varieties as treatments. Observations were recorded on various morphological parameters such as qualitative characters. From the observations made it was found that the mango varieties expressed the morphological variations from genotype to genotype. These morphological variations have the ability to distinguish between the mango varieties with each other.

  • A total of 75 sorghum germplasm lines including 74 Indigenous cultivar (IC) and one Exotic cultivar (EC) were characterized using 27 morphological descriptors provided by PPV & FRA for DUS testing in sorghum. Results revealed that maximum variation was present among genotypes for glume traits viz., colour (6 groups), neck of panicle (5 groups), length for flower with pedicel (5 groups), time of panicle emergence (4 groups), colour of dry anther (4 groups), panicle length of branches (4 groups), panicle shape (4 groups) and caryopsis colour (4 groups).

  • The preset investigation was consisted of evaluation of 92 finger millet accessions for qualitative morphological descriptors at Pantnagar Centre for Plant Genetic Resource, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Observations were recorded for sixteen qualitative characters on visual basis at different stages of development, as per DUS guidelines standardized by PPV&FR. Out of 92 accessions, most of the accessions exhibited erect growth (50 %), droopy ears (27.14%), dark green glume (58.70 %), non-pigmented leaf juncture (67.30 %), non-pubescent leaf sheath (33.
