In this work, 19 newly introduced and some traditional apricot cultivars were evaluated by 20 phenological and agronomical traits and fruit quality attributes. The results showed a wide variation in phenological data, tree vigour (TCSA), productivity [yield per tree, cumulative yield (CY) and yield efficiency (YE)], and fruit quality attributes such as fruit and stone weight, flesh/stone ratio, fruit dimensions, size, shape index, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA) and ripening index (RI).

In a previous study, the early ripening of Kyoho grape following H2O2 treatment was explored at the physiological level, but the mechanism by which H2O2 promotes ripening at the molecular level is unclear. To reveal the molecular mechanism, RNA-sequencing analysis was conducted on the different developmental stages of Kyoho berry treated with H2O2.

The production potential of root vegetables depends on many factors, amongst them; plant growth regulators appreciably influence the growth, yield and quality of produce. They play an important role in producing high value root vegetables and increasing the yield. They promote root growth, increase the number of flowers, fruit size and induce early and uniform fruit ripening. Foliar application of plant growth regulators is reported to improve tuber yield, dry matter and quality characters like starch, total sugars and beta carotene content.

Ratooning in sugarcane is a common practice in sugarcane as it saves cost of planting material and preparatory tillage and also germinates faster than the seed material. Several chemicals have been used in enhancing the production and productivity. In this regard, the effectiveness of Cytozyme Products over yield and juice quality in sugarcane ratoon crop was assessed. Two ratoon crops were initiated in both the seasons, i.e., autumn and spring using an early ripening and high sugar variety, CoPk 05191, in different fields.

Being early ripening, low chill plums grown in Indian sub-tropics have the potential for production of quality fruits and plum growing in the plains can be made successful venture by evolving improved varieties. Bearing habit, flower bud development and flower morphology, time and duration of flowering, anthesis, dehiscence, pollen studies (pollen viability and germinabitily) were studied in six varieties. Cytokinins are known to play an important role in fruit set and early fruit growth, but their involvement in later stages of fruit development is less well understood. Recent reports of greatly increased cytokinin concentrations in the flesh of ripening kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa (A. Chev.) C.F. Liang & A.R. Ferguson) and grapes (Vitis vinifera L.) have suggested that these hormones are implicated in the control of ripening-related processes.

To estimate the combining ability, fourteen tomato genotypes were crossed in Line ×Tester fashion to develop 33 hybrids, which along with their parents and check were evaluated for earliness, fruit yield and quality of tomato to know extent of combining ability for the same. The lines P-7 (-4.990) and P-8 (-2.990) were found to be the best general combiner with significant highest GCA (General Combining Ability) in desirable direction for days to 50% flowering while P-4, for days to first ripening (-6.47) and P-6 (170.80) for number of fruits per plant was best general combiner.

Two genes (CM-AAT1 and CM-AAT2) with strong sequence homology (87% identity at the protein level) putatively involved in the formation of aroma volatile esters have been isolated from Charentais melon fruit. They belong to a large and highly divergent family of multifunctional plant acyl-transferases and show at most 21% identity to the only other fruit acyl-transferase characterized so far in strawberry. RT-PCR studies indicated that both genes were specifically expressed in fruit at increasing rates in the early and mid phases of ripening.
