  • The present study was conducted on estimation of biochemical parameters i.e. sugar content, gossypol content, protein content and oil content in 3 genotypes of Upland cotton grown in six environments. The results showed that The early sown condition was best for high seed germination (%), high sugar (%), protein (%), oil (%) and low gossypol (%). Early sown conditions were good for desirable biochemical parameters. Protein (%) was positively correlated with seed germination (%), whereas it was negatively correlated with sugar.

  • Early sowing of rice by 20 June produced significantly the highest grain yield followed by normal (5 July) and late sowings (20 July) and the yield of its stubble crop also followed the similar trend. The combined grain yields of early sown rice-ratoon and the rice equivalent yield (REY) of early sown green gram was significantly higher by 8.64% and 23.74% than normal and late sowings, respectively in rice-ratoon-green gram system. The combined REY in modified system of rice intensification (MSRI)-ratoon-green gram system was 7.33% and 33.

  • Climate change has emerged as a biggest environmental challenge for agricultural production worldwide. In this respect, thermo-tolerance is a major objective in many crop sp. including Brassicas. Due to fluctuation in weather parameters, there is needed to develop temperature tolerant Indian mustard varieties for early sown condition. Keeping the facts in view, the present experiment was made to assess the genetic divergence among thirty-five genotypes from different AICRP-RM research centres under early sown condition. Based on D2 analysis, 35 genotypes were grouped into seven clusters.

  • Carbosulfan and imidacloprid are being used for cotton seed treatment in cotton Gossypium hirsutum L., to control various early season piercing and sucking pests. To assess the activity of these two seed treating chemicals against sucking pests of cotton, cotton seeds were treated with imidacloprid and different doses of carbosulfan were sown in the field. Untreated seeds were also sown as control treatment. The studies were continued for two years. During the study period recorded various observations on sucking pest population and seed cotton yield.

  • A field study was conducted with an objective to assess diurnal variations in photosynthetic pigments and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in two stay green wheat genotypes viz. DL 1266- 1 and Arina 166 to gain insight into photoprotective regulation mediated by photosynthetic pigments during grain filling under late sown heat stress condition. Heat stress was imposed by delaying sowing date i.e. 12th January. Diurnal alterations in temperature affected all the parameters associated with photosynthetic pigments and chlorophyll fluorescence.

  • Chickpea is a cool season pulse and suffers severe yield losses when exposed to higher temperatures during reproductive phase. Stable chickpea production will depend on the release of new cultivars with improved adaptation to drought and high temperature. Twenty five breeding lines of two crosses JG 11 x JG 14 and JAKI 9218 x JG 14 were assessed under timely and late sown situations. High variability was observed for majority of the traits in both the seasons.
