The Sivas Basin is located in the eastern part of the central Anatolia. In this study, aeromagnetic data in the basin and surrounding area are processed and anomalies are interpreted to determine the approximate locations of the causative bodies and reveal their relationship with the tectonic trends. The sedimentary basin is surrounded by strong magnetic anomalies from the south, east, and northeast. The most apparent anomalies are observed in the E-NE of Zara, SW of Divriği, and north of Kangal.

These geochemical traits point to the adakite-like affinity for Pertek andesite-dacite porphyries, however, they present some geochemical characteristics of both oceanic slab-derived and continental crust-derived adakites and show a dual character. Enrichment in K2 O, Th, Rb, and Hf in these adakitic porphyries is mostly associated with the crust-derived terrigenous sediments during active subduction, before the Early Miocene.

According to existing literature, the western segment of the Manisa Fault Zone is well known characterized; however, the eastern segment of it has rarely been addressed. To decipher the Holocene seismotectonic behavior of the eastern segment of Manisa Fault Zone, trench-based paleoseismological analyses for the first time were performed along with it.

Varto and the surrounding region have important geothermal fields, developing in strike-slip tectonic setting in East Anatolia, which resulted from the collision of the Arabian and Eurasian plates. The main structural elements in the area are the NE-trending sinistral and NW-trending dextral strike-slip fault segments and N-S trending extension zones. In order to determine fault-controlled geothermal circulation, it is very important to fully characterize the structural elements in these complex environments.

Ablepharus Lichtenstein, 1823, which includes ten species, is distributed in eastern Europe and Asia. Four species are recorded in Turkey: A. kitaibelii, A. chernovi, A. bivittatus, and A. budaki. After molecular and morphological studies in Anatolia, the phylogenetic relationship of the genus is still very complicated. Here, we investigate the taxonomic status of Ablepharus in Anatolia using morphological and molecular methods. The genetic structure of Ablepharus populations in Anatolia was analyzed using both the nuclear (CMOS) and mitochondrial (cyt b and COI) gene regions.

The study area is situated in the Araplı-Erdemli (Kayseri) area in the north-eastern part of the Cappadocian Volcanic Province (CVP), central Anatolia. The Late Miocene series comprises lacustrine and fluvial deposits interbedded with ignimbrites and lava flows. The Late Miocene Mustafapaşa member of the Ürgüp Formation comprises yellow to red mudstone that alternates with thin sandstone beds in the north-eastern part of the CVP.

Convergence of the Africa, Arabia, and Eurasia plates and the westward escape of Anatolia have resulted in an evolving plate boundary zone in the Eastern Mediterranean. The current location and nature of the plate boundary between the Anatolian and the African plate is difficult to trace due to the scattered crustal earthquakes and the absence of deep ones.

The presence of some marine dinoflagellates and Calamus, Lauraceae, and Arecaceae suggests near-seaside plant distribution in the Kağızman-Kötek and Tuzluca areas. According to micro- and macrofloral records and numerical climatic values calculated by the coexistence approach method, paleoclimatic conditions could have changed between warm temperate and subtropical, and also seasonality was effective in East Anatolia during the Late Oligocene.

Serratula oligocephala DC. is currently reported as an endemic species of Turkey, where it has limited distribution in east and south Anatolia. Specimens collected from the continental humid slopes beneath the northern summits of the Mount Lebanon Range in the eastern Mediterranean confirm the occurrence of the species in Lebanon.
