Leucine decarboxylase (LDC) is a recently proposed enzyme with no official enzyme commission number yet. It is encoded by the Mus musculus gene Gm853 which is expressed at kidneys, generating isopentylamine, an alkylmonoamine that has not been described to be formed by any metazoan enzyme yet. Although the relevance of LDC in mammalian physiology has not been fully determined, isopentylamine is a potential modulator which may have effects on insulin secretion and healthy gut microbiota formation.

The automated prediction of the enzymatic functions of uncharacterized proteins is a crucial topic in bioinformatics. Although several methods and tools have been proposed to classify enzymes, most of these studies are limited to specific functional classes and levels of the Enzyme Commission (EC) number hierarchy.

Thanks to recent developments in genomic sequencing technologies, the number of protein sequences in public databases is growing enormously. To enrich and exploit this immensely valuable data, it is essential to annotate these sequences with functional properties such as Enzyme Commission (EC) numbers, for example.

Endometrial cancer (EC) is the 8th leading cause of cancer death amongst American women. Most ECs are endometrioid, serous, or clear cell carcinomas, or an admixture of histologies. Serous and clear ECs are clinically aggressive tumors for which alternative therapeutic approaches are needed.

Twenty four tomato genotypes were evaluated during June to September 2018 at Horticulture College and Research Institute, Periyakulam with an aid to estimate genetic diversity for 15 quantitative and qualitative characters. Using Mahalanobis D2 statistics method, the 24 genotypes were grouped into three clusters, indicating the presence of diversity among the genotypes for different traits. The cluster III containing 17 genotypes followed by cluster II and I comprises of four and three genotypes respectively (Table 5). The highest intra-cluster distance was recorded in cluster III (60.

Abiotic stresses are one of the key limitations to global crop production and food security. Among the abiotic stresses, drought is one of the most vital factors that causes change in morphological, biochemical and physiological characteristics in plants, and consequently affects the growth and productivity of crops.

The occurrence of drought stress at seed filling stage is known to cause severe yield reduction in soybean especially where the crop is grown in rainfed conditions. Screening of large germplasm lines under natural drought conditions is extremely difficult to execute due to unusual rains. In the present study, about 328 germplasm lines are screened for terminal drought tolerance by spraying 0.2% of potassium iodide (KI) at R5 stage and the tolerant lines were again retested under similar conditions in the subsequent year.
