The research investigated to compress ECG signals using JPEG2000. Also proposed is a method of ECG signal de-noising based on Hilbert-Huang transform. This method uses empirical mode decomposition to decompose the signal into several intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and then the noisy IMFs are removed by using soft-threshold method.

In this paper we propose two ways to improve the accuracy of ECG signal recognition by filtering out the effect of the respiration in the ECG signal and by using the information of breathing stage as features in ECG signal classification. These approaches can improve the reliability and accuracy of the arrhythmia classification. As the classifier we use the modified neuro-fuzzy TSK network. The proposed solution will be tested with data from the MIT-BIH and the MGH/MF databases.

The performance of computer aided ECG analysis depends on the precise and accurate delineation of QRS-complexes. This paper presents an application of K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm as a classifier for detection of QRS-complex in ECG. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on two manually annotated standard databases such as CSE and MIT-BIH Arrhythmia database. In this work, a digital band-pass filter is used to reduce false detection caused by interference present in ECG signal and further gradient of the signal is used as a feature for QRS-detection.

In this paper we present an adaptive filter for denoising the ECG signal based on Leaky Normalized Least Mean Square (LNLMS) algorithm. The adaptive filter essentially minimizes the mean squared error between a primary input, which is the noisy ECG, and a reference input, which is either noise that is correlated in some way with the noise in the primary input or a signal that is correlated only with ECG in the primary input.

In this paper, a report is made on an application of the mentioned capability of wavelet transform for grasping subtle changes and discontinuities in electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. From the signal processing point of view, it shows that the diagnostic of ECG signals is carried out by excluding any recognised abnormality as singular points or irregular structures.

This paper describes the experiment and evaluation of the efficiency of the proposed WLAN-based two-state ECG compression algorithm. ECG data used in this experiment was from an arrhythmia ECG database. The results of experiment were evaluated by comparing some parameters such as packet error rate-PER, signal throughput, percentage of RMS difference (PRD), PRD Normalized (PRDN) and time delay between compressed and uncompressed signals and showed that the two-state compression algorithm helped to improve efficacy in ECG signal- WLAN transmission.

In order to address these issues, we have attempted to detail many of the key relevant advances in signal processing. Chapter 1 describes the physiological background and the specific autonomic mechanisms which regulate the beat-to-beat changes of timing and morphology in the ECG, together with the cause and effect of breakdowns in this mechanism. Chapter 2 presents an overview of the primary issues that should be taken into account when designing an ECG collection system.
