Echolocation calls

Cuc Phuong is the oldest and most well-known National Park in Vietnam. With its large primary forest area and karst cave systems, it is assumed to be an ideal home to a highly diverse bat fauna. However, species diversity and echolocation of bats in this park are poorly characterized. Between April 2021 and April 2022, three bat surveys were conducted in the park with special attention on the species of the family Hipposideridae. Ly Son is a small but important archipelago of Vietnam. It contains different ecosystems ranging from urbanized to natural vegetation. However, little was known about bats and the general biodiversity of this archipelago. In August 2017 and May 2022, the author conducted a series of bat surveys throughout the archipelago.

My Son sanctuary area is located in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, central Vietnam. The sanctuary area was recognized as the World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1999. It contains a wide range of habitats which would be home to high diversity of plants and animals. This paper provides the first record of Rhinolophus marshalli in south-central region of the country.
