This paper explores the nexus between financial development, economic growth and environmental sustainability in Vietnam from 1990 to 2020. By applying Fully Modified Ordinary Least Square (FMOLS) and Dynamic Ordinary Least Square (DOLS) approaches, some main results are given as follows: (i) a compelling evidence to affirm that financial development contributes positively to environmental sustainability in Vietnam; (ii) a positive association is observed between economic growth, CO2 emissions, and ecological footprint, resulting in a deterioration of environmental quality.

The objectives of this study were: 1) to study the resource consumption per tourist in terms of the amount of carbon dioxide emission due to the activities per tourist, 2) to compare the difference in the touristic ecological footprint (TEF) of day-trip and overnightstay tourists, and 3) to determine the TEF concerning the demand for forest areas to absorb CO2 that is released from the activities of the tourists.

Responsible production and consumption is one of 17 Global Goals that make up the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of United Nations. Responsible and sustainable development requires an urgent reduction in the ecological footprint by changing the way goods and resources are produced and consumed. The sustainable consumption challenge emerged as a key issue in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro.

Apart from being the most urbanized and largest emitter of CO2 emissions in Africa, South Africa currently harbours an ecological deficit territory mainly due to its desire to attain more growth with less attention to its natural environment. Since environmental distortions are mainly an outcome of human activities, this study becomes the first to investigate the linkage between natural resource (NR), human capital, energy consumption, and ecological footprint (EF) in South Africa.

The current examination is motivated to identify the link between fisheries, agriculture, urbanization, and the environment. In doing so, the present study is motivated to examine the Indonesian economy due to its massive population, marine-centered location, and almost equal rural-urban ratio. Hence, the current examination analyzed the influence of fisheries production, Agriculture production, and urban development (UD) on the ecological footprint (EF) in Indonesia.

why are we working towards becoming the Greenest City and why now? Vancouver residents have an ecological footprint three times larger than the Earth can sustain. he decisions we make every day about how we move around the city, what we buy or eat, and how we deal with our waste means that we currently use far more than our fair share of the Earth’s resources.

Therefore we need to work with government and business if we are to live within the means of one planet. Reducing our Ecological Footprint personally and across UK institutions is not only better for the planet, but reduces our reliance on other countries, increases our energy security and saves money. The UK government was the first in the world to commit to enshrine in law a 60% cut in carbon emissions by 2050. However, we will need an 80% reduction, as the scientific evidence continues to show. The Scottish government...

Cumulatively, all our individual footprints make up the unsustainable total demand. The solution to this problem is for people to take individual action to break down that large footprint. We need to change the way we live to combat climate change, conserve the world’s forests and protect our oceans. No-one wakes up in the morning and consciously decides to contribute to global warming; to help cut down a tropical rainforest; or to deprive future generations of a decent standard of living.

Reducing consumption is the key to bringing down our Ecological Footprint. There is a link between cities that have the biggest disposable incomes and the cities with the biggest footprints per person. The link is not an automatic one: some well-off cities have a footprint that is smaller than might be expected. Salisbury has a one of the lowest footprints in the UK but high house prices and wages. Where...

Physical units can be specific to the kind of resource recorded (tonnes, cubic meters, hectares, number of units) or common to a range of resources. In this case, a unit-equivalent needs to be found. For example, material flow accounts which are currently the main basis for resource-efficiency analysis record 'everything' in tonnes. Another solution is to use carbon or energy unit-equivalents, as in UNFCCC reporting. The Ecological Footprint Accounts propose surface area as a general unit-equivalent. These solutions are obviously incomplete (e.g.
