Economics of broccoli

Boron is concerned with the precipitation of excess cation, buffer action, maintenance of conducting tissues and help in absorption of nitrogen. Its primary role is concerned with metabolism both with its uptake and efficient use in plants. Boron also affect the cambial and phloem tissues of storage root or stem apical meristems and leaves, vascular cambia of fruits and other organs which are capable of meristematic activities (Singh, 1991).

A field experiment was conducted during winters 2015-16 to study the effect of inorganic and organic fertilizers on yield and economics of broccoli cv. Green Magic. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with twelve treatments and three replications. Different doses of recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN), Farm yard manure (FYM), Poultry manure, Vermicompost and their combinations are used with all other cultural practices taken uniform.

Present investigation was undertaken to study the effect of INM on growth and yield of broccoli cv. Shayali. For this, a field experiment was carried out in Randomized Block Design with three replications. The experiment was conducted at the All India Crop Research Project, during Rabi season of 2014-15. For the experiment, Nine treatment combinations viz. 100% RDF (T1), FYM @ 20 tonnes /ha (T2), 50% RDF + FYM @10 tonnes/ha (T3), Neem cake@5q/ha (T4), 50 % RDF + Neem cake @ 2.5q/ha (T5), Vermicompost @ 5 t/ha (T6), 50% RDF+ Vermicompost @2.

The cole crops like cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and brussel sprouts etc. are most important vegetables consumed all over the world, among them cabbage and cauliflower are economically vegetables in India. Most of the cruciferous vegetables are vulnerable to many insect pests. The Diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella Lineaus is the most serious pest in causing economic loss. DBM developed resistant to almost all the synthetic insecticides. Here we collected DBM population from Field of Rattihalli, Haveri district of the state Karnataka, India and reared for one generation.
