The relationship between filamentous fungi and broiler chicks has long been recognized. In the past, filamentous fungi have been attributed to the disease occurrence and feed contamination causing substantial economic loss in broiler production. Currently, the relationship is expanded to the use of filamentous fungi as probiotics, fermentation starters, antioxidant sources and enzyme producers that can exert beneficial impacts on broiler production. This present review provides a summary of the role of filamentous fungi in broiler production.

The aim of this work was to compare the efficacy of a phytogenic feed additive (PFA) and exogenous enzyme supplementation on the economic efficiency and cost of production of broiler chickens. Day-old chicks of Cobb 400Y (n=300) were distributed randomly into six groups of 50 chicks each, which were further subdivided into five replicates of ten chicks each.

An experiment was conducted to study the effect of various sources of Methionine on growth performance and cost economics in broiler chicken. In a CRD model, 375 broiler chicks (Vencobb) were randomly divided into five groups (T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5), each containing 3 replicates with 25 birds in each replicate.

Fowl adenoviruses (FAdVs) are economically significant pathogens of domestic poultry. Fowl adenoviruses are associated with many disease conditions in domestic fowl such as IBH, IBH-HPS, Egg drop syndrome, Quail bronchitis, and gizzard erosions etc. The present study deals with epidemiological investigation of forty natural outbreaks of IBH/IBH-HPS in broiler farms of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during 2011-2016. Involvement of fowl adenovirus was suspected on the basis of post mortem lesions, which was confirmed by AGID, histopathology, virus isolation and hexon gene (L1 loop) PCR.

Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae are important poultry pathogens responsible for high economic losses to the poultry industry in term of mortality, poor weight gain and decrease of feed efficiency in broiler chickens and reduction of egg production in layer chickens and turkeys. Serum plate agglutination (SPA), hemagglutination inhibition (HI) and ELISA are the most common serological techniques used for rapid detection of infection and the adoption of control measures of the diseases.

The present study was planned to investigate the alternative and economical way for treating caecal coccidiosis in Broilers. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the anticoccidial efficacy of aqueous and methanolic extract of Melia azedarach (Bakain) leaves in experimentally induced Eimeria tenella infection in Broilers. Acute toxicity test of herbal extract was conducted in 21 days old broiler. The birds were observed 24 hours for sign of toxicity.

Meat from spent broiler breeder hens is sold at a lower price because of its poor texture and acceptability when compared to the broilers. The present study was designed for proper utilization of this less expensive meat to produce cheaper and economically viable nutritious value added chicken sausages.

Different strategies are being followed to enhance the body growth and economize the poultry feed. Use of peppermint powder is one such approach. This research work consisted of a total number of 160 day-old broiler chickens (Gallus gallusdomesticus) of vencobb strain were taken and the experimental birds divided into 4 treatment groups viz. T1 (control), T2, T3 and T4 with two replicate in each treatment group, having 20 broiler chickens in every replicate in a complete randomized design.

Avian Mycoplasmosis is one of the most substantial global causes of economic losses to the poultry industry, particularly in chickens and turkeys. Present investigation was designed to detect Mycoplasma species from suspected broiler breeder/layer using genus specific Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Hundred specimens including 50 each of choanal swabs and tracheal swabs were collected from five layer/breeder poultry farms from different areas of Maharashtra State. The swabs were inoculated in Pleuropneumonia Like Organism (PPLO) broth for isolation of Mycoplasma organisms.

The present experiment was conducted to find out the effects of adding different levels (0, 0.1 and 0.5%) of garlic (Allium sativum) powder to the basal experimental diet on the feed intake, growth performance and economics of broiler chicks. One hundred and eighty (n=180) day old unsexed white commercial broiler chicks (Cobb-400) were randomly distributed into three dietary treatments of 60 birds/dietary treatment and each treatment contained 4 replicates (15 birds/replicate). The dietary treatments were control (T1-basal diet only), garlic powder supplemented at 0.1% (T2) and 0.
