This global minimum structure has the shape of a tetragonal bipyramid having two Sc atoms at two tops of pyramids binding with one edge of Ge-Ge. The ground electronic state of the global minimum isomer is the 2B2 state in the C2v symmetry. The most stable isomer of Sc2Ge6 − has been used to study the CO adsorption. The calculated results indicate that the Sc2Ge6 − cluster has a good interaction with the CO molecule. The adsorption positions are around the Sc atom with two stable models include adsorbing the C atom and adsorbing both the C and O atoms of the CO molecule.

Ebook "Eco-immunology: Evolutive aspects and future perspectives" represents a cutting-edge contribution giving an all-around perspective of eco-immunology today. Beside questions of the utmost importance for the whole community of immunologists, e.g, the intrinsic limits of immunological experiments performed at the bench on a limited number of selected models, the book covers several other facets of the eco-immunological approach, including host-parasite interactions, human aging and population immunology.

We present a novel approach, the Local Edge Machine, for the inference of regulatory interactions directly from time-series gene expression data. We demonstrate its performance, robustness, and scalability on in silico datasets with varying behaviors, sizes, and degrees of complexity. Moreover, we demonstrate its ability to incorporate biological prior information and make informative predictions on a well-characterized in vivo system using data from budding yeast that have been synchronized in the cell cycle.

In 1 the Zn 2+ cation is tetracoordinated with 2 nitrogen atoms from 2 imidazoles and 2 oxygen atoms from the 2 carboxyl groups in 5-chlorhydroxybenzoate. In 2 the coordination polyhedrons of Cu 2+ center can be described as distorted square pyramidal geometry sharing common edges, with an oxygen atom on the top of the pyramid. The hydrogen bonds and π − π interactions between the 2 ligands contribute to the presence of the infinite one-dimensional chain in the structure.

In the final case study, Case Study III, the applied shear wave at ultrahigh strain rate generated secondary pressure and horizontal shear waves at the edges of the loading site, which complicated the loading scenario but provided new insight into the interaction of laser-generated shock waves within the solid. The results can be used to improve the analysis of experimental data to quantify the accompanying deformation and failure mechanisms of polymers subjected to hypervelocity impacts.

A gene regulatory network (GRN) represents interactions of genes inside a cell or tissue, in which vertexes and edges stand for genes and their regulatory interactions respectively. Reconstruction of gene regulatory networks, in particular, genome-scale networks, is essential for comparative exploration of different species and mechanistic investigation of biological processes.

Biological regulatory networks, representing the interactions between genes and their products, control almost every biological activity in the cell. Shortest path search is critical to apprehend the structure of these networks, and to detect their key components.

Relatively small changes to gene expression data dramatically affect co-expression networks inferred from that data which, in turn, can significantly alter the subsequent biological interpretation. This error propagation is an underappreciated problem that, while hinted at in the literature, has not yet been thoroughly explored.

Systems biology takes a holistic approach by handling biomolecules and their interactions as big systems. Network based approach has emerged as a natural way to model these systems with the idea of representing biomolecules as nodes and their interactions as edges.

Biological pathways represent chains of molecular interactions in biological systems that jointly form complex dynamic networks. The network structure changes from the significance of biological experiments and layout algorithms often sacrifice low-level details to maintain high-level information, which complicates the entire image to large biochemical systems such as human metabolic pathways.

Gene and protein interaction data are often represented as interaction networks, where nodes stand for genes or gene products and each edge stands for a relationship between a pair of gene nodes. Commonly, that relationship within a pair is specified by high similarity between profiles (vectors) of experimentally defined interactions of each of the two genes with all other genes in the genome.

Investigate theoretically quantum transport through the “charge” Kondo circuit consisting of the quantum dot (QD) coupled weakly to an electrode at temperature T + ∆T and connected strongly to another electrode at the reference temperature T by a single-mode quantum point contact (QPC). To account for the effects of Coulomb interaction in the QD-QPC setup operating in the integer quantum Hall regime we describe the edge current in the quantum circuit by Luttinger model characterized by the Luttinger parameter g. This paper presents an improved Teaching Learning Based Optimization (TLO) and a methodology for obtaining the edge maps of the noisy real life digital images. TLO is a population based algorithm that simulates the teaching–learning mechanism in class rooms, comprising two phases of teaching and learning. The ‘Teaching Phase’ represents learning from the teacher and ‘Learning Phase’ indicates learning by the interaction between learners.
