Pulses are an important source of high quality protein complementing cereal proteins for pre-dominantly substantial vegetarian population of the country. Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Mill sp.) is the second most important pulse crop of India after chickpea and is grown for it’s grain as dhal and green seed as a vegetable. A field experiment was conducted at College of Agriculture, Vishweshwaraiah Canal Farm, Mandya during kharif 2017 to study the effect of foliar application of calcium nitrate, boron and humic acid on growth and yield of transplanted pigeonpea.

In Alstroemeria growing regions of Himachal, Ooty and Jammu and Kashmir propagation through rhizome division is still the main method of multiplication. Alstroemeria remains vegetative if divided every 12 weeks. This opens up the possibility of exploring propagation potential of Alstroemeria rhizomes over the seasons (7).

The effect of pre harvest spraying of calcium chloride (CaCl2) and calcium nitrate (Ca NO3) @ 0.5 and 1% on shelf life and quality attributes of mango cvs Dashehari and Amrapali was investigated. Pre harvest spray was carried out on fully grown mango trees prior to one month of harvesting following second subsequent spray, 15 days after of first one. Full ripe fruits of both the cultivars were packed in brown papers bags after washing and surface air drying and stored under ambient condition (36 ± 20C at 75 ± 3% RH).

Among the carbon sources, glucose supported highest weight of dried mycelium and maximum number of sclerotia formation followed by sucrose and maltose. The lactose supported least growth and also inhibitory for sclerotia formation. Out of four nitrogen sources, calcium nitrate supported highest weight of dried mycelium and maximum number of sclerotia followed by alanine. Urea exhibited inhibitory effect for sclerotia formation. In the vitamins, Thiamine supported highest weight of dried mycelium and maximum number of sclerotia followed by yeast extract.

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is one of the most luscious fruit of world, which occupies a prime position in the international fruit processing industry of the world. It is one of the most choicest and popular fruit among the people and designated as the ‘king of fruits’ (Sawke et al., 15). 7 years old mango cv. Kesar garden planted at a spacing of 7.5 m x 7.5 m was selected for the experiment.

Haphazard and inappropriate plant spacing and poor soil fertility management practices are among the major factors constraining onion production. Therefore, a field experiment was conducted in Lovely Professional University from November 2017 to April 2018 to assess the influence of spacing (15×10cnm, 15×10cm and 10×10cm) and different nitrogenous fertilizers (Urea, Calcium nitrate and N:P:K mixture) on growth, yield, and quality of onion. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) of with three replications.

The flowering characteristics, fruit set and fruit drop had a positive effect with the various doses of nitrogen and boron. The boron applied @ 50g/plant took minimum days for flowering (81.64 days), maximum fruit set (74.67 %), minimum fruit drop (35.05 %) and days for harvesting (98.86 days). The flowering to harvesting is decreased by 17 days with application of boron @ 50g/plant.

Poly house experiment was carried out at Zonal Agricultural and Horticultural Research Station (ZAHRS), Navile, Shivamogga during kharif2016 to study the response of tomato fruit to different sources and levels of calcium. Three sources of calcium [CaCl2, CaNO3 and calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN)] with three levels each (0.20, 0.50 and 0.80%) were applied as a foliar spray in a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with three replications and ten treatments.

The present study was carried out to work out the “Effect of calcium nitrate on propagation of LA hybrid lilies through scaling”. The experiment was laid out in a Completely Randomized Design (factorial) consisting of three cultivars and six calcium nitrate doses (0, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 g/m2 ). Among the cutivars, maximum bulblet multiplication was shown by „UHFS LA Lily Collection 1‟ (2.59) followed by „Batistero‟ (2.48) and „Frans Hals‟ (2.32), respectively. Among the different calcium nitrate doses, 10 g/m2 calcium nitrate dose gave best results for per cent sprouting (76.
