These methods have lengthy process and difficult to scale up, hence a simple method of nanofertilizer production amenable for large scale production and testing its applicability in crop production can help for upscaling this futuristic technology. With this background, research was undertaken to synthesize urea coated hydroxyapatite nanofertilizer for enhanced nitrogen use efficiency and its filed testing using aerobic rice as test crop.

The major yield advantages are related to proper crop establishment, efficient utilization of the natural resources and better weeds suppression due to proper plant population and together with other agronomic cultural practices. But in Jharkhand situation, information on optimum seed rate of suitable hybrid rice for aerobic is very meager.

The present study was undertaken with the objective to determine the degree of association between yield and it`s component characters and their direct, indirect effects on grain yield in aerobic rice. Twenty two aerobic genotypes with 4 check varieties were evaluated for identifying their efficiency with respect to 10 yield and yield attributing traits.

Currently available rice varieties contain low percent of protein and many deficiency symptoms are predominantly seen in rice eating population are observed. To improve the efficiency of breeding for total grain protein in rice, a thorough understanding of the genetics of the trait concerned is essential. In order to address this problem we have identified promising local indica rice, (HPR14), which possesses relatively higher protein than cultivated rice. The rice protein normally posses 7-8 percent while the donor genotype identified has an average of 14.1 percent total protein.

A field experiment was conducted during rainy season of two consecutive years (2011 and 2012), in sandy loam soils of Warangal, Telangana State to study the response of aerobic rice (Oryza sativa L.) to drip irrigation and nitrogen fertigation under semi-arid environment. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with four replications. Three irrigation schedules viz. drip irrigation at 100% Pan Evaporation (PE); 150% PE and 200% PE were taken as main plots and three nitrogen levels through fertigation viz. 90, 120 and 150 kg/ha were taken as subplots.

A field experiment was conducted to assess the effect of seeding methods and weed management practices on yield of aerobic rice and nutrient removal by the weeds under direct seeded aerobic rice. Among the seeding methods line sowing increased the grain yield than the broadcasting method. Among weed management all the weed management practices were found to be equally effective in reducing the uptake of nutrient by weeds and producing higher grain yield as compare to weedy check. However maximum yield was obtained with the application of Pretilachlor 0.

Aerobic rice is a new way of cultivating rice that requires less water than lowland rice. Direct sown aerobic rice suffers more due to weed menace as the weeds and rice compete for growth factors together. Achieving higher rice grain yields under aerobic conditions requires better weed management practices. Hence, the aerobic rice should be focused primarily on efficient weed management to make aerobic rice cultivation more efficient in terms of returns on farmer investments and use of water resources.

A field experiment was conducted in Kharif season of 2014 at, J.N.K.V.V. College of Agriculture, Instructional Farm, Rewa (M.P.) under All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Project to study- “Integrated Weed Management in Aerobic Rice (Oryza sativa L.)”. The treatments comprised ten weed control methods which were laid out in randomized block design with three replications. Among the grassy weeds, Echinochloa species (annuals), Cynodon dactylon (perennials) and Cyperus rotundus (sedges) were the most dominating weeds.

Rice is commonly grown by transplanting of seedlings into puddled soil, which is not only intensive water user but also cumbersome and laborious. Looming, fresh water scarcity, water pollution, competition for water use, growing population, rising demand for food, climate change and global warming, water-intensive nature of rice cultivation and escalating labour costs have threatened the puddled transplanted rice system. The excessive utilization of natural resource bases and changing climate are leading to the negative yield trend and plateauing of rice productivity.

The Wonder Cereal, Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the heart of our culture and the staple food crop consumed by more than 50 per cent of the world’s population. Aerobic rice proves to be a viable technology by reducing water losses through seepage, percolation and evaporation. However, under aerobic condition several essential nutrients, especially zinc became unavailable due to positive soil redox potential. Therefore genetic improvement of rice genotypes for zinc deficiency under aerobic condition is essential to exploit the water saving potential of aerobic condition.
