The novel MnWO4/BiOI nanocomposite materials were successfully synthesized by a precipitation deposition method. The as-prepared photocatalyst was characterized by XRD, SEM, EDAX, UV-DRS, FT-IR, TEM and BET techniques. The as-prepared MnWO4/BiOI nanocomposites were further utilized to study the degradation of the Celestin blue aqueous solution under visible-light irradiation.

This work demonstrated the potential of US for mitigating membrane fouling. However, the integration of the US transducers within the membrane system will be a major challenge for the application of US in membrane cleaning. It is more appropriate that US is used as pre-treatment to the membrane system, the transducers can be placed prior to the coagulant feed line. Further work on the determination of the detailed mechanisms associated with enhancing coagulation would enable optimisation of the system with regard to process, cost and energy efficiency.

This study deals with the isolation and optimization of chromogenic bacteria from different soil samples. The bacterial isolates (BRT-CB1 and BRTCB2) were further subjected to pigment extraction using methanol and chloroform as active solvents. Extracted pigments were evaluated for its antioxidant efficiency against DPPH as free radical. The extracted pigments scavenge free radical with increasing concentration.

Antidesma bunius known as ‘currant tree’ is a popular fruit in several Asian countries. During our exploration of wild fruits of Manipur, India, we identified this edible fruit growing naturally in their wild habitat. An exhaustive biochemical analyses revealed very high concentration of mineral contents relative to other well known fruits. Correlation analysis showed significant relationship between ascorbic acid content and antioxidant oxidant activity.

The present study is on the isolation, characterization and screening of endophytic bacterium i.e., Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus which was isolated from the tissues of surface sterilized roots of four different crops viz., sugarcane, maize, pineapple and carrot. Study was conducted to isolate and analyse the plant growth promotional activity of Bacillus strains isolated from Doni river belt of Vijayapura district. Total of 30 isolates were obtained from 15 rhizosphere soil samples. Further all the isolates were subjected for P-solubilization efficiency. All the 30 isolates showed zone of solubilization on Pikovskaya’s media.

Chlorpyrifos (0, 0 – diethyl 0 - (3, 5, 6 – trichloro – 2 - pyridyl phosphorothioate) is broadspectrum pesticide with trade names Dursban, Lorsban and Spannit, displaying insecticidal activity against Lepidoptera, Diptera, Homoptera, Coleoptera, Orthoptera, Hymenoptera and Hemiptera. However, these organophosphates pesticides have acute neurotoxicity as they suppress acetylcholine esterase (AChE). Hence, present study deals with exploring bacteria for chlorpyrifos degradation ability. Total 10 different samples were collected from soil where chlorpyrifos pesticide was applied.

Rice crop harbours diverse beneficial plant growth promoting diazotrophs which mostly plays a significant role in supplementing not only N fertilizer but also gives indirect benefit to the crops by improving their productivity and immunity. Considering all the benefits from PGP diazotrophs, rice rhizospheric soil samples were collected randomly from 20 different locations of Jorhat district, Assam. Altogether, 53 rhizobacterial cultures were isolated in non-selective TSA media.

Seventy bacterial isolates were selected, purified and were examined for morphological characters like colony morphology, cell shape, Gram reaction. Rhizosphere soil samples from Brinjal crop were collected from the 12 different locations in north Kashmir districts with the objective to isolate the zinc solubilizing bacteria, their screening and characterization.
