The study highlights the importance of beliefs in EFL teaching and learning and provides meaningful contributions to undergraduate preservice teachers, teachers and teacher educators to enhance the quality of teaching EFL to young learners in Vietnam in particular, and in other EFL contexts in general.

The triangulated data results are surprisingly revealing in many essential aspects of vocabulary instruction, ranging from selecting vocabulary, teaching vocabulary directly and indirectly, explaining vocabulary meanings, teaching vocabulary through skills in various teaching phases in class. Hopefully, the findings of the study have provided an insightful understanding of vocabulary teaching practices in the primary school settings in Vietnam. From these empirical findings, relevant implications are suggested for better vocabulary instruction to young learners in Vietnam.

The aim of this experimental study is two-fold: (1) to find out the extent that the portfolio affects EFL young learners’ sentence writing; (2) to explore learners’ attitudes towards the use of portfolio. Participants are 60 young learners enrolling Mover courses at an English language center situated in the Mekong Delta.
