In ebook "Direct-fed microbials and prebiotics for animals: Science and mechanisms of action" the practice of supplementing direct fed microbial and prebiotic additives to domestic animals during growth is becoming more widespread in food animal production. Beneficial effects particularly in cattle, pigs and poultry, including improved general health, foodborne pathogen reduction, more efficient food utilization, faster growth rate and increased milk and egg production are common results.

Mycoplasmas primarily cause respiratory or urogenital tract infections impacting avian, bovine, canine, caprine, murine, and reptilian hosts. In animal husbandry, mycoplasmas cause reduced feed-conversion, decreased egg production, arthritis, hypogalactia or agalactia, increased condemnations, culling, and mortality in some cases.

High egg producing hens (HEPH) show increased hypothalamic and pituitary gene expression related to hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis stimulation as well as increased in vitro responsiveness to gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) stimulation in the pituitary when compared to low egg producing hens (LEPH).

The study has revealed that the production of livestock products were continuously increases over the year except wool production that was declined. The demand of livestock products according to low income growth will be high for milk, beef and buffalo meat and chicken in rural areas, whereas the demand of mutton and goat meat and eggs will be high in urban areas.

Indian fisheries and aquaculture is an important sector of food production, providing nutritional security to the food basket, contributing to the agricultural exports and engaging about fourteen million people in different activities. Fish production in India has increased at a higher rate compared to food grains, milk, egg and other food items. Constituting of about 6.3% of the global fish production, the Indian fisheries sector contributes to 1.1% of the GDP and 5.15% of the agricultural GDP.

Poultry farming is the practice of raising poultry, chicken, turkeys, ducks etc. as an important subcategory of animal husbandry for the production of eggs, meat, feather, etc. Kadaknath is an important Indian poultry breed which has black meat, slow growth rate, smaller body size as well as late sexual maturity. For the increment in the growth of these birds certain feed additives are added to the ration or germination may also increased the nutritive value of maize and other cereals which are main component of the poultry ration.

The filamentous fungus Paecilomyces is currently being developed as a biocontrol agent against plant parasitic nematodes, which often cause black leaf disease in pepper and coffee trees. Nematode eggs and cuticles are the infection sites for biocontrol agents that penetrate those areas by the production of lytic enzymes. Paecilomyces variotii NV01 was isolated from pepper soil from the Dak Lak province. The purpose of this work is to study the activity of protease and chitinase in the strain Paecilomyces variotii NV01. The protease activity was determined to be 82.3 U/ml in a 0.

In India, rice, wheat and maize yields per hectare of land have increased three to four fold between 1950 and 2010, mainly due to the adoption of improved agronomic practices. Egg production now ranges between 310–320 per annum per bird. Similarly, feed conversion efficiency in broilers is also at par with developed nations and Indian poultry farmers are now more conscious of the need to increase profits by cutting costs and improving productivity. Balancing of nutrients in poultry rations along with improved mineral supplementation has led to this improved productivity.

In the last half century, significant increases in the productivity of modern poultry stocks have been achieved for both the meat and the egg production sectors of the global poultry industry. Synergies have resulted from advances made in all the major ac- tivities of poultry management and housing, nutrition and ration formulation, applying poultry genetics knowledge in commercial breeding programmes and better diagnosis and control of avian diseases. Of all these core elements, poultry health and disease can be the least predictable.

The major theme of this study component involves carrying out projections of demand for poultry feeds and its implications for wheat and maize production. For this purpose, the projection of poultry and poultry products has to be carried out first. Two approaches can be employed to estimate the medium and long- term demand for use of grain as poultry feeds. One approach involves projecting demand derived from the consumption of poultry products (meat and eggs). The approach may be called "Demand Approach" 2 .

Mining wastes can cause significant ecological destruction. Often, solid mine wastes are dumped into streams, destroying habitat and causing siltation and heavy metal and other contamination. Even when such wastes are stored out of water channels, trace materials can leach into surface waters and infiltrate into local groundwater. Fine- grained tailings can wash into local waterways and degrade streams by covering and filling coarser-grained substrates.

AI refers to several different procedures, all of which involve inserting sperm into a woman’s body, the differences referring to whether the sperm is placed in her vagina, uterus, cervix or fallopian tubes. AI can also be combined with hormonal drugs to stimulate production of multiple eggs to increase likelihood that one of them will be fertilized. AI can be done at home with a syringe or in a medical setting. Sperm used for AI is usually “washed,” which separates the sperm from the semen and eliminates dead or slow sperm and other chemicals that may impair fertilization.

The aim of this study was to compare the biological characteristics of newly introduced Apis mellifera bees with those previously introduced in 1960. New introduced Apis mellifera bees showed low inbreeding percentage and high honey productivity. However, they exhibited high disease infections and low egg-laying capacity of queens, consequently, resulting in low worker population.
