Gender-based pharmacokinetics and/or pharmacodynamics differences can result in differences in treatment which can accordingly affect the drug safety and/or efficacy. A new validated bio-analytical LC-MS/ MS method was developed for the estimation of ezogabine, a third-generation antiepileptic drug, in human plasma using oxcarbazepine as an internal standard (IS) and to study the gender effect on the pharmacokinetic parameters in Egyptian human subjects.

The utilization of black liquor, produced by the pulp and paper industry in Egypt, as a workability aid and set retarder admixture has been investigated. This approach may help eliminate the environmentally polluting black liquor waste. It also provides a low cost by-product, which can be widely used in the construction industry. The properties of black liquor and its performance on concrete at two different ratios of water to cement have been studied. The results revealed that black liquor from rice straw pulp increases concrete workability, improves compaction, and reduces honeycombing.

A simple and sensitive extraction-spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of sulfonamide drugs, namely sulphamethoxazole, sulphaguanidine, sulphaquinoxaline, sulphametrole and sulphadimidine, in both pure form and in the dosage forms available in Egyptian markets. The method is based on ion-pair formation between the sulphonamides and Mo(V)-thiocyanate inorganic complex in a sulphuric acid medium followed by extraction of the coloured ion-pairs with 1,2-dichloroethane. The optimum conditions are established.

The purpose of this study was to investigate canal configuration of mandibular first premolars in an Egyptian population. Two hundred fifty human extracted mandibular first premolars were collected from Egyptian patients and a small hole in the center of the occlusal surface of each tooth was made perforating the roof of the pulp chamber. Teeth were decalcified by immersing in nitric acid and dehydrated in ascending concentrations of ethyl alcohol.

We present a method for generating Colloquial Egyptian Arabic (CEA) from morphologically disambiguated Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). When used in POS tagging, this process improves the accuracy from 73.24% to 86.84% on unseen CEA text, and reduces the percentage of out-ofvocabulary words from 28.98% to 16.66%.
