Nowadays, in Vietnam as in the world, traditional building materials are increasingly scarce while industrial waste is produced more and more. In this paper, the author uses steel slag, a byproduct of steelmaking processes, for replacing crushed aggregate in base or subbase course. Steel slag-stone dust aggregate (70% steel slag and 30% stone dust) are treated with a cement content of 4%- 8%.

The purpose of this work is to offer a method for detecting structural damage utilizing the standardized index of the beam's deflection influence line difference as input data for the evaluation procedure. The displacement influence line used in the evaluation is calculated using the findings of the behavior analysis of the reinforced concrete beam's finite element model when subjected to a moving load.

In the design of engineering structures, concrete is assumed to have homogeneously mechanical properties. However, in reality, the concrete material is usually not uniform with respect to the height of structures because segregation mostly occurs during construction. The higher density is presented at, the lower part of the structure due to a higher proportion of aggregate and vice versa.

This paper discusses the research results on the bonding quality of bamboo strips when impregnated in LMW PF solution with different ratios and different pressing technology parameters; at the same time, physical and mechanical properties of bamboo composite materials treated with PF PTLT such as: water absorption resistance, dimensional stability, bonding strength, modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE) are also significantly improved.

This study demonstrated that the flexural force-resistance of Geopolymer concrete (GPC) is higher than the OPC concrete, especially the higher flexural strength about 20% to 30%. Meanwhile, the Poisson's ratio and elasticity modulus of geopolymer concrete is equivalent to OPC concrete.

The effects of cobalt (Co) substitution on the structural, physico-mechanical properties, as well as the in vitro bioactivity and biodegradability of akermanite (Ca2MgSi2O7) are studied. The XRD patterns showed that the Co substitution did not change the Ca2MgSi2O7 phase.

One of the main objectives for this thesis is to provide an extensive literature review on the knowledge of the failure of trees in general and specifically Eucalyptus. By doing so, gaps in the literature and research will be revealed and then the remaining objectives will be selected experimental work filling the gaps for Eucalypts.

Hydrogel based on fish-derived gelatin was prepared by electron beam (EB) irradiation under the linear accelerator in TARRI, QST, Japan. The elastic modulus of the gelatin gels prepared at concentration of 30 wt.% solution by EB irradiation with the doses from 20 to 100 kGy were 100 – 500 kPa, which are suitable for the use as bio-materials.

The elastic modulus of the body-centered cubic (BCC) films is studied based on the moment method. For Fe, Ta, and W films a clear elastic modulus dependence of the thickness at ambient conditions and under temperatures up to 2000 K. The obtained results of the values of elastic modulus metallic films are smaller than the corresponding values of bulk material.

This paper presents a computing module for a quick determination of flexural strength of fibre-reinforced concrete, plain concrete and hybrid cement composite. The hybrid cement composite consists of two layers of plain concrete and steel fibre-reinforced concrete. Both of these concretes are self-compacting ones.

The MOE of concrete was measured at 3, 7, 28, 60, and 120 days. Experimental results were then compared to the MOE obtained using the empirical equation from ACI 318 - 2008. It was found that the experimental MOE of both OPC and GPC specimens was higher than the estimated MOE values from ACI standards. The added sodium sulfate yielded a significant effect on the MOE of OPC but produced a minimal influence on the MOE of GPC.

In Vietnam, this method was standardized in national standards. In the case of cement concrete pavement plate, only the indirect (surface) testing transmission type or rarely the semi-direct transmission types are applied, these two types are the less satisfied than direct transmission type. This paper presents the theoretical basics and compares the experimental results of this paper with the ones of other methods.
