The proton-deuteron (pd) radiative capture reaction significantly impacts primordial nucleosynthesis. Employing a phenomenological potential model, we analyze pd radiative capture at energies below 300 keV, emphasizing electric dipole (E1) transitions.

The aim of this thesis is investigate and design a small antenna which can be embedded onto a Polyethylene substrate (used for making roof tiles). The antenna can be used to harvest ambient energy by connecting it to a rectifier. Due to the dimensional constraints of a roof tile as well as the materials used, there are limitations imposed on the antenna size, and thus the radiation efficiency and bandwidth often become a limiting factor in the overall performance of the system.

The (E)-2-(2-hydroxystyryl)quinolin-8-ol (abbreviated as HSQ) molecule was synthesized and characterized. The ESIPT, solvatochromism properties, electronic structure, and ground and excited electric dipole moments of this molecule were measured using absorption and fluorescence spectra recorded in 13 different solvents. Its electronic structure via electronic transitions was investigated to find the quantitative values of solvatochromism properties by LSER calculations. The ESIPT mechanism was clarified; ground and excited dipole moments were determined using solvatochromic shift methods.

Dy3+ doped lithium-sodium aluminoborate glass (60-x) B2O3-10Al2O3-15Na2O-15Li2O-xDy2O3 (ABLN: Dy3+) are prepared by the conventional melting procedure. Optical absorption and luminescence spectra have been measured at room temperature. Using the Judd - Ofelt (JO) theory, the intensity parameters Ωλ (λ = 2,4,6) have been evaluated for ABLN: Dy3+ glass. These intensity parameters are used to predict radiative properties that include electric (Sed) magnetic (Smd) dipole line strength, radiative transition probabilities (AR), lifetime (τR), branching ratios (βR) for the excited levels of Dy3+.

PVA/CuI polymer composite samples have been prepared and subjected to characterizations using FT-IR spectroscopy, DSC analysis, ac spectroscopy and dc conduction. The FT-IR spectral analysis shows remarkable variation of the absorption peak positions whereas DSC illustrates a little decrease of both glass transition temperature, Tg, and crystallization fraction, v, with increasing CuI concentration. An increase of dc conductivity for PVA/CuI nano composite by increasing CuI concentration is recoded up to 15 wt%, besides it obeys Arhenuis plot with an activation energy in the range 0.54–1.

LaF3 nanocrystals doped with different concentrations of Eu3+ ions were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The XRD, luminescence and excitation spectra have been studied at room temperature. The ratio of the 5D0→7 F2 electric dipole transition intensity to the 5D0→7 F1 magnetic dipole transition intensity (R) was used to evaluate the asymmetry of Eu3+ site. JuddOfelt parameters were calculated from emission spectra and were used to predict the radiative properties of 5D0→7 FJ transitions also the lifetime of 5D0 level.
