Biochar and PGPR applications mitigated the negative influence of salinity stress on plant growth and physiological and biochemical characteristics of eggplant seedlings, enhancing chlorophyll content, plant nutrient element uptake, and antioxidant enzyme activity. The enhanced salinity tolerance due to biochar and PGPR applications could be associated with a significant reduction in Na and Cl uptake, MDA, H2 O2 and EL and an increase in LRWC, chlorophyll content, antioxidant activity and plant nutrient element uptake.

Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) has rarely been applied in plant science, particularly to study plant resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses. In this study, we evaluated the freezing resistance of floribunda roses (Rosa Floribunda) during frost dehardening using the EIT technique to identify a new method for rapid and nondestructive measurement of plant freezing resistance.

A field experiment was conducted in Rabi 2015 in a randomized block design with the objective to screen advanced breeding lines (genotypes) of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern and Coss) for different physiological parameters viz, chlorophyll content, membrane stability index (MSI %), relative water content (RWC %) and electrolyte leakage and yield related to terminal heat tolerance. The study indicated that genotypes, ‘Pusa Bold’, ‘NRCHB-101’ and ‘PRO-5222’ had tolerance to high temperature at terminal stage.

A laboratory experiment was carried out to evaluate 26 groundnut genotypes for salt tolerance as well as to assess physiological basis for salt tolerance. Twenty seeds of each genotype were allowed to germinate for 72 hours at 28±1oC and then transferred to plastic beakers containing neutral sand. 7 days old seedlings were then subjected to different treatments viz. Control (plants receiving Hoagland nutrient solution adjusted to pH 6.3) and Salinity treatment (plants receiving Hoagland nutrient solution plus 200 mM NaCl adjusted to pH 6.3).

An experiment was carried out to study the effect of different packing and storage conditions on vase life of cut carnation cv. Kiro. The flowers packed in polypropylene at 5°C cold storage under wet condition recorded significantly the lowest physiological loss in weight (g flower-1 ), as well as diameter of the flower (cm) with lowest electrolyte leakage (%) resulting in increased vase life of cut carnation cv. Kiro upto a period of 24.70 days.

In this study under drought stress condition morphological and physiological traits are significantly decreased which compare to normal grown tomato. Maximum reduction was noted in Yield (60.00%), number of leaves (53.17%), number of fruit /cluster (37.77%) and fruit setting (32.95%) under drought stress at growth stage. Electrolyte leakage (21.20%) showed highest under drought stress condition. Maximum RWC (77.86%) and specific leaf area (6.43cm2 g -1 ) were noted under control condition.

Blueberry (Vaccinium spp.) is a small berry with high economic value. Although cold storage can extend the storage time of blueberry to more than 60 days, it leads to chilling injury (CI) displaying as pedicle pits; and the samples of 0 °C-30 days was the critical point of CI.

MicroRNA319 (miR319) acts as an essential regulator of gene expression during plant development and under stress conditions. Although the role of miR319a in regulating leaf development has been well studied in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), the function of the recently discovered wild tomato Solanum habrochaites miRNA319d (sha-miR319d) remains poorly understood.

The present investigation was carried out at College of Horticulture, Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh during the year 2013-2014. The experiment was conducted with two different types of biocides viz., sodium hypochlorite and calcium hypochlorite each at three concentrations along with control (distilled water only), a total of seven treatments with three replications in a completely randomised design with factorial concept.

Abiotic stresses are one of the key limitations to global crop production and food security. Among the abiotic stresses, drought is one of the most vital factors that causes change in morphological, biochemical and physiological characteristics in plants, and consequently affects the growth and productivity of crops.

The aim of this study was to determine whether the loss of germinability and vigour in wall-rocket seed lots was related to electrolyte leakage. Ten seed lots of 2 wall-rocket species (9 of Diplotaxis tenuifolia and one of D. erucoides) were stored at 45 °C and 70% relative humidity and electrolyte leakage was measured using the conductivity test.

Nonimmunologic Reactions Fluid Overload Blood components are excellent volume expanders, and transfusion may quickly lead to volume overload. Monitoring the rate and volume of the transfusion and using a diuretic can minimize this problem. Hypothermia Refrigerated (4°C) or frozen (–18°C or below) blood components can result in hypothermia when rapidly infused. Cardiac dysrhythmias can result from exposing the sinoatrial node to cold fluid. Use of an in-line warmer will prevent this complication.

not computers are complex devices. figure 1 depicts the basic elements that comprise a not computer and shows how they fit together. it includes the operating environment and user, as well as the computer, battery pack, and the fundamental electrochemical cell that drives its operation. since nots are portable, it is essential to have a lightweight, sealed battery to prevent leakage of electrolyte into the computer case. two types of batteries are found in a not computer. one is a rechargeable battery pack that provides the energy for its operation.

Since the maintenance-free sealed nickel/cadmium accumulator became of high importance in the market, in the middle of the 1950s (Figure 17.1), the German battery company Sonnenschein has invented the first maintenance-free portable lead-acid batteries in small sizes in modules of 2 to 12 V between 1 and about 30 Ah. These batteries have been absolutely maintenance free and because of their immobilized electrolyte they could be used in any position without leakage.
