  • As a consultant, the process of designing and developing technology-based solutions is one that you get to know intimately, thanks to iteration. Having been involved in a dozen or more projects in the past few years, I came to realize that a common component exists at the center of every one of those solutions. That component is the data storage system.

  • Digital electronics is the branch of electronics based on the combination and switching of voltages called logic levels. Any quantity in the outside world, such as temperature, pressure, or voltage, can be symbolized in a digital circuit by a group of logic voltages that, taken together, represent a binary number. Each logic level corresponds to a digit in the binary (base 2) number system. The binary digits, or bits, 0 and 1, are sufficient to write any number, given enough places. The hexadecimal (base 16) number system is also important in digital systems.

  • During the second year, the programme offers a series of integrated modules that examine specific aspects of the tourism industry. First, students will learn about the international tourism environment. They will examine important business models found in the industry in order to understand how tourism and the environment interrelate – primarily as seen from an economic perspective – by working on case studies and going on excursions.

  • The “Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Laboratory” is a computer based self-learning system developed for students to acquire practical skills and knowledge required to deal with EPRs. The system is designed to supplement conventional lectures on health information systems given as part of our undergraduate curriculum. Using the Laboratory, the students may learn not only operations of EPR systems but also the subjects connected with patient information handling, including privacy, security and health information ethics. The EPR Laboratory is composed of an eLearing system and an EPR system.

  • Microcontroller is a computer that is integrated on a chip, it is often used to control electronic devices. Microcontroller, in essence, is a system including a processor with enough performance and low cost (other than multi-purpose microprocessors used in computers) combined with peripheral blocks as the remember, the modular input / output, the module to change the analog and analog to digital, ... In the computer modules are usually built by the chips and circuits.

  • Modern electronic systems are increasingly digital: digital microprocessors, digital logic, digital interfaces. Digital logic is easier to design and understand, and it is much more flexible than the equivalent analog circuitry would be. As an example, imagine trying to implement any kind of sophisticated micro- processor with analog parts. Digital electronics lets the PC on your desk execute different programs at different times, perform complex calculations, and communicate via the World Wide Web....

  • Undergraduate biomedical engineering programs and curricula are being rapidly developed across the United States. We perceive a correspondingly increasing need for biomedical engineering textbooks specifically designed for undergraduate readers. Many educators have come to appreciate that physiology and biology are not narrow, specialized applications to be ‘‘tacked onto’’ an engineering curriculum, but are instead rich subjects that can naturally elicit and benefit from the kinds of creative problem-solving and quantitative analyses that are hallmarks of engineering.
